Absolutely Gorgeous 997 GTS on B.A.T
#61
I think we agree on most points. This GTS on BaT is certainly unique and is probably a one of one. The premium is all for that uniqueness. It drives the same as a black GTS that can be had for 30K less. If I had to pick a single 911 for daily use, there is no question that the GTS would be at the top pf my list, with a 997.1 Turbo a close second.
It's funny, someone mentioned in an earlier post how expensive PTS is on new cars relative to the 997 generation. Well just look at how expensive PTS is now on a used GTS. Probably $30 to $50k premium depending on where this auction ends. Now that's an upcharge

The take-away for me is that if done right, the cost of PTS can be money well-spent. I friggin' love it. The touch of blue inside and that the owner had the presence of mind to do the air conditioning vents in silver???? And the wheels? Sheeeeet. I'm sportin' wood. If I didn't have one already I'd pay up for it. And that's what will happen. It's not because the top bidder will have more money than sense. It's because it's that unique. A lesson for any person building a new Porche.

It’s not really one of one - look left (but it seems every 911 has its own set of of options so there is that). I loved the color 9 years ago but I could part with it today if my wife would let me get an R8 (which she won’t because I hardly drive the 911). Otherwise, the GTS is nice but I get more enjoyment out of my racing bicycles. I guess familiarity does breed contempt, or in this case ennui.

unfortunately this discussion has happened a few times on rennlist with some very interesting and creative therapy sessions to follow
For some of us, if we even mention to the wife that we are about to indulge ourselves with a new Porsche purchase, then there better be a swimming pool addition, kitchen remodel, or a dozen Louis Vouitton bags flying out of our pockets before we even pick up the new car
but, yeah.... easier said than done for some of us, but we get your point.

My wife told me if another Porsche showed up I'd be looking for a new wife. I made the mistake of thinking out loud "that would free up 2 garage spots". She didn't find that nearly as funny as I did

OK so I like to brag....for 8Lug, yes - I agree, I had an 07 Turbo and it was a beast compared to this car - don't get me wrong, but pound for pound at this money, I would be in the Turbo.
For myw, here are a few shots of the interior.
