I thought it was a quality product and well made but way to stiff. I had the the stiff option though. I ended up switching to the GT3 and liked it significantly better. Maybe I would have liked the lighter spring in the Numeric but I didn't know anyone with one to try it out first.

Just ordered these: https://www.phenixengineering.com/pr...ft-bushing-kit

Phenix gave me a tracking number in 15 min, very impressed.

I have a tiny bit of slop, hopefully this corrects that. The factory throw doesn't bother me too much. If that doesn't correct the slight slop I think the Numeric will be a great solution.

Phenix metal bushing will improve the slop generated from the forward-backward motion. Side to side motion slop is governed by the interaction of the shift lever with the plastic triangular side lever. Function first's shift rite kit addresses both areas of concern.

Yes, correct.

There was a little break in period with my Numeric after installation it was stiff at first but after a while it gradually broke in and is very smooth now. At least that was my experience.

Default Numeric shifter and cables

997 SS with function first kit is the best option imo,
done this in 2 of my cars now.

I have a newly installed Numeric shifter and stock
cables. Didn’t notice the difficulty upshifting and downshifting into 2nd until I was at the track recently.
Could adjusting the cables at the shifter end improve the feel? Which direction should the cable be positioned if so? Im at the shortest setting so maybe that is contributing to the difficulty as well?

Had function first bearings with a short shifter in my first 997. Now the numeric in my 997.2.

roughly same price. I would go with the numeric. Seems a little more tighter and I like the all in one design.

Have you done motor and transmission mounts? With high Gs things move around enough that getting into second gear especially challenging

I have the Numeric w/cables in middle position, so I can't comment on the shortest position.

Mounts are stock, dynamic mounts on the motor. I didn’t have this feel with the stock shifter on the track though. I’m sure the mounts need to be swapped and maybe the Numeric exaggerated the feel?

Default Installed Rohler yesterday

I took the plunge with the Rohler kit from Design911 yesterday.

Fitting was straightforward except; no instructions were supplied, there was no bolt/washer combo to hold the left cable on, luckily I have plenty of that sort of thing, needed an M5, think it was 8mm long which with the washer was fine. Also the frame has 3 holes for the centre console to fix to, these are also M5 where the original are self tappers.

Gives a nice feel on the middle hole. There is a tad of stick movement which can probably be taken away with a very thin washer on one or both sides of the stick, I may do in the future.

One thing I have found is when putting in reverse, don’t push hard (UK RHD car) whilst going into gear else this fouls very slightly on the frame and stops the forward shift of the stick. This could be a bigger issue if the top stick hole is used.

I will be letting Design911 know all
this as the overall package could be slightly improved but I’m happy from where it was.

…..now back to painting the 997.1 door mirrors for the next part of the project.

Has anyone ordered a Numeric shifter lately? How long did it take for you to receive yours? I've heard of having to wait up to a couple months. TIA

I ordered one in Jan this year and received it in less than a month.
I do like it, but there is a reduction in the lateral throw as well, which I prefer if they didn't do that. Also, it is a bit stiff getting into reverse, but you get use to it. 1 to 6 shifting is buttery smooth but precise.
