Default Small spring sticking though floor!?!

No idea what to make of this but cant be good?! Any thoughts?! This is behind right front wheel well as you can see in the pic. Its just sticking through the floor.🤯

Recent jobs on the car done (at dealer) - replaced seals on PDK, including pipes cleanup and gaskets, etc - basically full oil service including some kind of pipes cleaning also, plus installed / replaced the HPFP/thermostat as part of service. I must say that after this job, the car has a funny "mechanical" smell from the air vents when it starts up, but it goes away after a while (or I dont smell it because Im used to it?). Thats the only "change" i could sense post repairs, including of course the car drives better due to new HPFP etc.

Thoughts? No codes/errors.

It's the drain from your a/c compressor, not spring

For the question asked- the thingy is the air conditioner evaporator condensate drain line. There are also drains for the cowl area. Why did you change the thermostat? 997.2 cars do not have a history of water pump or thermostat problems? Just curious.

so this "spring" is a drain line - ok, fine, but it looks to be just sticking through the floor like some "mod". Is that how it comes from the factory on 997.2 cars? None of this screams engineering to me😀 .

as to your question, the high pressure pump sprung an oil leak so had to be replaced (a common failure on 997.2 as per a sticky here) - and the thermostat is next to that so... It was a “while in there job”, thermostats are a 10th of the price of the pump and it made good preventive sense to take care of it also for me. It was working fine then ofc. Its just my ocd. Car is 10 years old in a funny zone if all things needing care. Dont wanna joke with thermostat. I come from BMWs.🤦🏼‍♂️

It's a corrugated plastic drain line and is the OEM material and the, way Porsche built it. Leave it as it is.

Note to Pascalemod; I have had bunches of BMW's and as everyone knows that from E39 on, the entire cooling system (yes, everything) has a useful life of 60,000 to 80,000 miles. (they have a 220 degree thermostat) I fully understand your concern as I am the president (self appointed) of the preventative maintenance club for cooling systems. Your choice of 911 has landed you in the sweet spot for cooling systems. The 997.1 cars has a well documented history of water pump issues. The 997.2 car has no real history of problems here as the engine in completely different. What you and everyone should look for is leaks, cracks, seepage or just plain old age on the coolant expansion tank ( This is common on all models from 996 ,997.1 and 997.2) I don't think they have caused a catastrophic failure to leave you stranded on the side of the road, but common wisdom is to replace them at some point. I replaced mine at 90,000 miles (2011 997.2) as preventative measure. Easy DIY job, part cost $118 from friendly dealer or $88 from Bauer.
Enjoy your car!
