I’ll post details tomorrow. This is at a reputable dealer. Of course, same dealer that told my sister that a 2014 Pilot doesn’t have a timing belt because all modern Hondas and Toyotas use a timing chain...
I also found the previous owners info in the glovebox so I’ll do a little sleuthing just for posterity.

I'm not sure about the Pilot but my 2017 Accord 3.5 has a belt.

if passenger vs driver side doesn't match whether it be gaps, paint quality (overspray), parts missing etc etc - 95% a sign of bad of work done (mostly poor/sloppy)

Your gut is right...walk away from this car unless the price is insanely good and a proper inspection is done to find all the deficiencies (which I am sure will be many on this).

Poor workmanship in a very obvious area..what lies beneath elsewhere? Carfax is only as good as the data that is fed to it. Work off the books, work done by vehicle owner, uninsured work being done, etc. never make it on to Carfax.

Agree with all the above. 2005, 30k miles or so, manual Cabriolet S. I told them I would only consider it at $10k below their asking and if I can have a full PPI done.
I doubt they will go for it and even if they do I will take a long hard look. If I pass, I will post details here.

Only the 997.1 turbo cars have 2 rear decklid struts. Rbe Carreras only have 1.

Don't buy that one though.

Also remember - Carfax is nothing more than a marketing tool. It's usefulness is from showing you a positive - an accident, or a service that happens to get reported. You can never rely on it for assuming a negative - i.e., that something didn't happen, like an accident or a service. People put way too much emphasis on carfax and similar reports. Like a Porsche, there is no substitute for a ppi.

OK, here's the details. Dealer seems uninterested in pursuing my offer.
Car is listed at just under $40k. I told them for $29k I consider buying it and would have to have a full PPI done.
2015 Carrera S convertible
Car link
VIN: WP0CB29965S765424
Arctic white with brown leather (full leather)
32,028 miles

What I know of the history (from carfax and records in the car) Sold new in CT. Sold as a CPO car to the most recent owner for $40k in 2015.
He moved to CA and took the car with him, then seems to have traded it in at this dealer, most likely on an Infiniti.
Carfax is wrong about the number of owners, I think it's two.

Lots of wear on the interior, signs of smoking in the ashtray and cigarette lighter.
Big dent on the left rear fender, cracked taillight, and of course the lovely bodywork I flagged above.

@dan5.5 this is the car I messaged you about.

That's the VIN for a 2005 Carrera S Cab - GT Silver.

On the manufacturer's build sheet, it's listed as GT Silver.

Chevy dealers know Chevys. They don't know a Porsche from Adam and the used car manager who paid for this trade-in may not have even known the fender had been damaged. All they see is a flashy European sports car that they got for a song and that they think they can sell for a fortune.

Based on the location of the seam sealer, I'd say the left rear fender has been either replaced or is full of Bondo. But either way, thats not a good location for one of these cars to take an impact.

True, but a Chevy dealer knows Corvettes and a C8 is nothing to sneeze at. It took me all of 3 minutes to find that damage, perhaps I should leave the tech industry and buy cars for them
BTW, coming to visit Raleigh later this week!

My thought exactly. How do you replace a rear fender on a 997? It's not like it's one piece that you just remove and replace. I'm not a body shop anything but the rear fender connects with the roof so don't you have to cut somewhere to replace the fender? Blending paint has to follow. Like you said.....not a good place for these cars to take an impact. If I had a choice I'll take a front fender impact over a rear.

It's a cab so they didn't have to massage anything at the fender to C-pillar intersection, but if someone re-skinned the fender, i would look for more seam-sealer or other signs of work in the driver's side door-jamb and along the inside of the convertible top-well area at the top and underside of the wheel well. Signs of work might include more seam sealer, paint-masking lines at the door jamb, ugly welds or (if the body shop were really hacks) rivets or screws.
