2006 C4S Cab -- just over 35k miles, first oil change since I bought the car. The sticker on the windshield said change was due at 35k, so I figure there's somewhere between 3000 and 5000 on the oil.

DI40 has some of the best characteristics I have seen in a consumer grade oil including but not limited to shear resistance even in the face of what I consider very high fuel dilution (~2%). The virgin sample of DI40 has a cSt Flow Measurement of 14.0 for the viscosity @ 100 deg C and even with 5K OCI's and doing a ton of idling/city driving my sample only sheared to 13.6.
When my CPO expired at 75K miles and I switched to Driven I noticed an uptick in oil consumption almost immediately that initially puzzled me. I stuck with it and am now coming up on 100K miles. Time has showed that it lasted for about two 5K mile OCIs until consumption was reduced to nil (I measure both electronically and also measure what actually comes out when I drain). This was counter intuitive in that I moved from a thinner 30 weight to a 40 weight oil, which is more viscous at operating temperature, for protection; from this perspective it should have less consumption not more. There are several possible explanations for this but I suspect it has to do with the ZDDP tribofilm.
Even in 5K OCIs in a turbocharged direct injected engine that gets flogged on the straightaways and is subject to much time idling, this oil holds its initial characteristics strikingly well.

Heads up! Blackstone has had issues recently with delivery of the used oil. Sometimes taking as long as a month due to postal issues. They have a new label with a tyvek bag that is supposed to resolve the delivery problems. Saw this is their most recent newsletter.

09 997.2 from garage queen to road king. Still too many miles between changes as events conspired agin me once more. Thinking the swing in Fuel % is a poor tank full?

Agree the UOA looks really good. Your wear levels are very low there is no question. Additives look good but drop your OCIs inside 5K and they will look even better. Not sure what the deal with that fuel dilution spike is but doesn't look like it's anything to be at all concerned with given that the levels immediately reverted back. If they didn't revert back I would wonder if you had an issue with the fuel system (eg. an injector, HPFP) which can lead to very serious issues like bore scoring. Your fuel dilution is very low for a GDI engine. My turbocharged GDI engine routinely produces fuel dilutions close to 2.0% (part of that has to do with short trips, which I try to avoid whenever possible by taking a bike or when I do take the car by taking the parkway instead of idling on streets with lots of traffic lights). Since I am at 100K miles I am going to preemptively replace the HPFP in the next week or two even though there's nothing wrong with it. There are several parts on these cars like AOS/PCV that I will replace preemptively because they can cause way too much damage and it can be too late by the time you find it even if you're watching for it.

Just found this thread. Cool. Below are two reports. One was done in 2019 (sorry its not Blackstone). The other is blackstone was done a month ago. Increase in wear? Anything concerning?

Same driving conditions. I cant be sure on the speeddia report but I think that was around 5k miles on the oil but could be less. The blackstone 6k. Im not liking the increase in IRON and COPPER.

The iron is still in the range of acceptable, however I don't have much faith in the accuracy of Blackstone.
What did catch my eye is that the viscosity is lower on the newer sample and more of the Zn and P have been depleted than what was seen on the earlier sample. Typically when the anti-wear package gets used up faster that often means there is something going on, especially since there was more of a drop off in viscosity. Has the car been tracked? Any indication there might be a problem - oil consumption, unusual noise, etc?

Here are Motul 5W40s from one of my 997s before switching to Driven DT40 that has more of everything I just mentioned above. Also, try not to exceed a 5,000 mile change interval. Although you didn't run a TAN and TBN, and 6000 miles, the oil is also probably fairly acidic with is contributing to those slightly higher wear metal numbers. Even when I missed an oil change and accidentally went almost 8,000 miles, my metal wear and Zinc & Phosphorous numbers with DT40 were still better than yours.

I used a qt of Pennzoil syn 5w-40 while on a trip and needed to put oil in. I also put in some liqui-mol 5w-40 a few months prior. Its also possible, I used 0w-40 but I can't be sure. .....so the last sample might not be something to really look at until I do some more UOAs with consistency. ...One time I did notice a puff of smoke come out at start up. The puff of smoke is normal if either parked on an incline, especially a sideways one or if you ran the car for a short time and then restarted it, like you washed it, moved it into the garage, and then this next garage start might show the puff.

Mixing brands definitely will throw off your results as the additive package will clash.
When you say tail pipe is sooty it should not be wet.
When you noticed a puff of smoke did you smell it? Was it fuel or oil?
