Hello fellow rennlisters! I just pulled the DME over rev report for the first time, - 2008 911 Carrera S with 6sp manual-
The car has 66k miles, and it's immaculate. I've owned the car for about 2 and half years and it's my daily driver.
Burns little to no oil, only smokes once and awhile on startup. Car runs very strong, has no leaks, nothing.
I own this car and a 991.1 GT3 and have owned others over the years, never seen a report this crazy.
Is there anyway this is accurate? !

Seems everyone have their own way of reading these reports. I'm probably in the minority since I don't just look at range 3,4 and 5. I look at range 1 and 2 as well since I'm thinking it may give me an idea of how the car has been driven in general. For this car with almost 12,000 bounces off redline and over 2,500 hits in range 2 I'm not necessarily worried about abuse but along with the higher range hits I see a car that hasn't been driven gently or even spirited but pretty hard. Probably not a car I would consider buying.
I don't think you have anything to be concerned about. The problem with this report is it will scare off anyone wanting to buy it.
556 range 4's, 266 range 5's and 5 range 6's from what I understand after reading many DME threads is these readings are excessive and shows car was pounded on.
The way the numbers look, I'd say it's accurate. The 5s and 6s happened so long ago, they don't matter anymore. The 3s and 4s are the ones to investigate. Is it possible that the missed shift you reference from a year ago was the range 4s that have been logged and you've only driven the car for 40 hours since then? If not, someone else "test drove" your car either at a repair shop, a restaurant, or at home 40 hours ago.
Looks very legit. 95BlackZ28, you need to start shifting sooner. There little to gain by extracting the last 200-400 rpm out of the motor. On your fun days, start aiming for shifts at 6,500. Maybe 7K max. When you really want to get jiggy-with-it, drive the GT3 that day.
While it's a bit scary to most, it seems like cars that are driven and actually enjoyed seem to last longer than garage queens that are babied, so maybe you've got a long term keeper based on that report.
Range 3 7700-7900 rpm. I have hit those ranges sitting at a stop light in neutral and bouncing off the rev limiter. I don't recommend it, but the nice thing to see is that you had a very brief moment in Range 6 a long time ago and all has been great over all these years. When it's time to sell, find a buyer that has never heard of Rennlist!

This has been my experience as well. I added some range 3 and promise it was never misshifted during that timeframe. I am suspect when it comes to range 1-3 and how meaningful it is.
Also keep in mind it is how many ignitions in that range, not how many times it bounced off the rev limiter as was stated in one post.
