I just got my PIWIS II with a CF-30 toughbook, my samtec module is apparently WLAN capable (it has the LED, and the label says wlan), but I can't get my network settings to save under WLAN. I can see the SSID and enter my network passkey, but the progress bar just keeps repeating ad infinitum. Any tips? I've tried with Windows 7 connected to the wifi network and also with the network not configured at the OS level, but I can't seem to work this out. Everything works over USB but I am curious to see if I really have WLAN capability on the module and now I'm just interested in debugging.

Has anyone made this work on a machine that only has USB 3.0 ports? I'm experiencing "found new USB device", "installing driver", "can't install driver" behavior no matter whether I'm using a USB 3.0 filter and have installed Renasas drivers and extradata key for the uPD720201 chip or a USB 2.0 filter and a USL 2.0 hub plugged into my host (win 10) 3.0 port.

Haha, this is pretty funny. When searching around for some PDK related info I came across a large OBD2 outfit selling PIWIS clones. They have a webpage titled, "Use Chinese PIWIS 2 repair a PDK Transmission on Porsche 997". They lifted graphics and text right off this thread and pasted it in (without attribution of course). I know because I wrote most of it and captured the PIWIS screen shots on my car's PDK that they show.

It's amusing and I don't mind (not that I could do anything about it) as the more info out there on repairing PDKs the better. A link back to Rennlist would have been nice though.

No, I said it would have been nice, I may be an optimist but I'm not delusional! As to meds I'll be sixty next month and on none, thanks to good genetics, clean living, and a low-carb diet.

In a semi-similar vein, there have been a bunch of videos of late comparing high end replica watches to genuine. Usually by channels that review high end watches and promote genuine brands, not shills for the rep makers. But it turns out that the rep manufacturers find it an excellent source for detailed feedback on what they need to improve on their next generation clones along with reviews in watch forums...
The point being that clone makers / IP bootleggers keep a fairly close eye out for info that can be gleaned from forums and youtube to improve their product sales and aren't the least bit hesitant to use it.

If Porsche would listen, I'd gladly start filling up web pages. But from my experience in test driving for VDub/Audi/Bentley, they know it all.

Hello - I have a Cayenne question, and I know this is the 997 forum (in my defense, I do have a 997 too!). I accidentally killed the DME... yeah, bone head move when testing the WRONG wire. Anyway, if I buy a used DME off ebay, is the Chinese PIWIS clone able to match it to my car, or is this a dealership only option? Which unfortunately means a tow truck trip in this case...

I'm trying to diagnose a Gateway module code (C1200B Communication with steering wheel electronics control unit (CAN chassis)) and tried to use the Guided Fault Finding. The manual reads, "If fault memory entries are present, the process branches to the test plan, otherwise the defect report" The system test displays the control unit fault memory entries, but the Test Plan step isn't displayed after the fault page. It only displays the Complaint menu, refusing to display a test plan until complaints have been chosen from the small list of canned syntax. And the test plan is lamely related to the complaint, has nothing referring to the fault codes. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just non-functional in the clone?

I figured it out. I had to run through the VAL system evaluation process before selecting the GFF (F8) button before it would integrate the two software packages. Unfortunately, the test plan was basically 1) read out the fault codes, 2) ask me if the module was faulty. No further OBD initiated signal diagnostics that I was hoping for.

I have a problem with VCI HSX clone, piwis2 always says injection is not ON. Recently I am trying to perform the commissioning of the headlights, in which the modules are initially programmed and then the injection switch ON and OFF steps.
The problem is that, not detecting injection ON, the commissioning procedure is not successful. I checked the pins of my OBD and I correctly detected that in pin 16 the 12V power supply is permanent, while in pin 1 the 12V power supply is switched under key as it should be. I don't know which direction I should go. Advice is welcome.
