Other way around. 991 is much cheaper than 997.

You're right, that's what I meant. The 991 is cheaper. Either way it's strange.

Very strange indeed. Wonder if it’s a one off or whether that’s the normal state of affairs.

Are you guys sure the EU 991 version fits with with no dash lights or airbag issues in a USA 997? Like, 100% confirmed this? ‘Cause I agree, it’s a good deal if so.

Gert is very helpful send him an email if you are interested or have questions, he is very easy to work with.
Interesting. Used to be that if you can't find what you need for your Porsche at Suncoast you won't find it anywhere except perhaps at a salvage yard.

Gert is the best and has answered all of my questions.

The Main differences are:
1 - The 997 GT2 seat has 2 cushions on the base Vs. the 991 has 3 cushions
2 - The 997 GT2 seats DO NOT COME with heating Vs. the 991 coming standard heating.
3 - Airbags etc are plug and play with the 997.
4 - If your 997 Seats have heating - they "SHOULD" also be able to plug into the 991 version.

I am about to embark on the interior refresh on my 997 - and will be able to update Point 4 at some point in the near future....

Gert sources his seats (and other parts) directly from PAG and ships around the world. All parts are new...

Simon
Thanks for clarifying. The 997 and 991 GT2 seats look identical in the pictures but obviously some differences.

I have been told that the 991 GT2 seat is a direct bolt in and that it has the same connectors, no dash lights or airbag issues. I’ll confirm after the 991 GT2 seat arrives next week.

The seat arrived today, thank you Gert.

It looks great and I’ll install it this weekend.

I need to sit in a set of these with the lowest seat rails made. The ones I have been in are all way too high for me. If I could get them to sit as low as the 4 ways or 18 ways, I would be ordering them.

Would you mind weighing it before install? I'm curious if the 991 version and 997 version have any real distinctions aside from the bottom cushion. I've weighed my 997 version (passenger side, complete) and it was around 39 lbs. Thanks!

Curious.....how tall are you? I'm 6'3" and was concerned about driving position since they only adjust forward and back. Full back they're actually near perfect for me and I like to sit low. If anything I would like just a tad more tilt towards the back but as I've said before, I just slide forward a bit and that does the same thing as that tilt backwards. I've heard of really short people making adjustments to the mounting of these seats, some or maybe most of them probably to raise them. Could it be that you sat in one of those?

I’m a little embarrassed to mention something you probably already know (since you have been around here for a while), but maybe someone else might find it helpful. There was a post, maybe seven to ten years ago (with pictures) about the tilt issue. The solution was to use washers between the body and seat rails to tilt and/or raise the seats. I have no idea how safe or stable this hack would be but it might be that you’d have to use a slightly longer bolt to offset the width of the washer. I never thought I was lucky to be slightly below average size and weight, but being so, the seats fit me like a pair of lycra cycling shorts.

I'm 6'1" 170lbs and generally sit as low as I can in any car. These seats put me in a slightly more upright position than I would normally choose, but without a helmet it's actually close to perfect. To wear a helmet on a trackday I would want a thinner bottom cushion. That's as easy as velcro. I can't see how custom side mounts would lower the seat much unless you're willing to toss out the factory sliders too. The factory sliders have a vertical bolt, the head of which is less than a finger's width from the carbon fiber under the butt of the seat. So you'd have to change out the sliders too, to some that don't have a bolt head in that location. And my experience with aftermarket sliders (e.g. Sparco) is that they have too much "play" (they creak and rock slightly fore and aft). Not up to standard. YMMV.

P.S. Hey Tcc1999, Keep your lycra cycling shorts out of this, man! I almost lost my coffee. lol

No problem, the bathroom scale has the 991 GT2 drivers seat right at 37 lbs.
