285 vs 305
#17
I run track tires 245-35-19 & 305-30-19 on the standard 8 & 11 inch Carrera S wheels. They fit fine and I don't use spacers.
The golden rule is that the actual tread width of your tire should be close to the width of the wheel; that number is not the same as the nominal tire width (eg 245 or 305 in the above). In fact, each manufacturer makes their own decisions on how to interpret these numbers.
Tirerack has enough spec information on tires to check the actual tread width for each particular tire, so that's a good tool. Have fun with the tires, looking great!

same as the lobsters.
STOCK LOBSTER FORKS:
wheels are 19x8 ET55 (f)
19 x11 ET67 (r)
It really matters on what you want it to look like and how low you are going to go but without spacers, 305s will be 100% fine. With the same wheel specs but on lobsters, I was running 15mm spacers all around and it was chill, whatever.

The 50 offswt wheel I showed a picture of as an example of width and offset being by the valve stem is from a Cayenne. A 50 offset isn't right for a 911.

True, but then if you add a 15mm spacer to a 67 mm wheel your offset from center will be closer to a 52mm et wheel.... just saying..

This is an important point.
I have a couple examples.
1. I had 265 Hankook RS3Rs on my old track car. They measured pretty much the same as NT01s in 255.
2. I have 235/305 PS4S on my GT3 wheels right now. My friend just got Cup2s in the same specs on his GT3. His are clearly wider with a different sidewall profile.
The original question is can you run a 305 PS4S on your stock wheels without a spacer, YES...and you can run a 305 with up to a 15mm spacer...but there is a lot of discussion that is relevant around that.
Last, my friend mentioned above also got 245/325s for his GT3. The tires fit but they sap performance without being set up for them and didn't look that good really (most people care about one or the other).
I think Porsche knows what they are doing with tire specs, so I am leaning towards sticking with those OEM sizes. With the OEM C2S wheels (and most C2 wheels) + the 4 and 4S wheels, my understanding is that only offset changes. If that is the case 305s are fine and the fronts are the same from the C2 to the GT3, so whatever. GT3 rears are wider as well as having a lower offset than some OEM wheels and the RS has wider wheels with lower offsets (possibly all around).
This picture is pretty useless:

same sizes, his are CUP2s and mine are PS4S. Both are pretty damn new.
I love this car so much but I cannot make it work with my current life situation, so I have to defer the pleasure of having a GT3 for a bit longer...
I did drive it a bunch and it is amazing. I just cannot daily it as a 45 year old skateboarder with all my injuries in LA traffic... :-(
In any case, OEM tires (Cup2s) in OEM sizes (widths of 235/305), brand spanking new!!
In any case, notice the "bulge" of the sidewall, and the tires look wider than mine.
Here are the 245/325 pics that are no longer on the car:
sorry the pics. are not that good. they are just us texting back and forth.
no rubs at this sizing though. I just think one should have an alignment and even possibly a corner balance at this size. Basically RS WB tire sizes on a NB wheel.
FWIW, I do think there is a such thing as too much tire. If you look at the wider 325s on the rear vs. the 305s, I think the 305s look better. Just IMO.

IDK if it is Kosher, but here is a link to the FS ad at a dealer with tires that have only been driven from Pasadena to Newport Beach.

I run a 315 on my 12" wide Cayenne wheels and they could stand to be a bit wider too.
