Huge Mistake
Traded my Meteor Gray Metallic 2008 997s for a 2017 Mercedes C63s. I had the 911 for 7 years and absolutely loved it. Although I only drove it on weekends, it was a very special car to me.
So one day I test drove the C63s and was completely blown away by the performance and sound of that twin turbo V8.
Made the trade in April of 2018 and a month later regretted my decision to trade the 911. Ended up trading the C63 and my wife’s Lexus SUV in December of 2018 for a new Lexus SUV for her.
Now I am searching for a 997.1 or 997.2 to replace my sorely missed 911.
The C63s would certainly blow the doors off a 997s, but the driving experience no way compares!
Moral of this story is to enjoy your 997 for what it is.

I had a 2018 C63 coupe before the 997. It was a fun car, especially on road trips. But it really lacked as a driver’s car. It was a 10 out of 10 engine in a 5 out of 10 chassis.

I hear what you're saying about the C63s. But the difference between it and a 997 makes it hard for me to even consider such a trade though. Completely different cars and driving experiences. A very fast sedan vs. a pure and raw sports car with unmatched driving characteristics as I see it. I'd like to have both but if I can only afford one of them, the 997 hands down.

Have some friends with 2011-2017 M's and AMG's... no doubt, power/engine technology is way up there, and enjoy riding around in them. But for driving experience and eye candy, 997 wins all the time. Most agree the 997 even FEELS quicker in its own ways compared to the M/AMG's. Often my car isnt even brought up in the "competitive" convos, because I just say, well..."its a porsche" so.. im happy lol

I’m torn on selling my 06 C2S. Its the seal gray color i was looking for, and i enjoy “working” on it with mods and maintenance. I have had the turbo itch, and am considering selling it, but am worried I will regret it later

i also went the other way c63 coupe v8 2012 to 997.1 2S, such an awesome sounding engine on the mercedes but doesnt even hold a candle to the driving of that go cart of a 997. Not too mention the value you lose on those vs the 997s.
Also recently have 2 young kids recently and thinking I should cater to that and get back into a sedan but screw it they're small and can climb in there no issue.

I was very much effected by the PDK failure and bore scoring stories, to the point where I sold my 997.2 and bought a Mustang GT. The Mustang GT is entertaining, with the 10 speed auto, lots of mode settings, modern electronics and 460 hp. It brought a great deal of stress relief, with no worries about $15k transmission and $30k engine repairs. But, it feels like driving a bus after driving my 997.2. So, saving my money to buy a 991.

I think before anyone decides to sell their 997, you need to think back to that feeling you had when you first drove it. It was so different than the other cars you were considering and that's what set it apart. Sometimes you forget that / take it for granted when you drive it too frequently (or even daily like me) but you won't know you've made a bad decision until the honeymoon phase wears off on the new ride.

I would trade my 997 for an E63 AMG wagon in a hot second if it was as clean and sorted as my car. I am just saying.
