Have an 06C2S and for the past few weeks I noticed the clock would be hours off when I first started the car and then a few minutes later would correct back to the current time, e.g. going to work would say 3:00 AM for about 2-3 minutes and then jump to 7:00 AM. It did this everytime I drove so thought it was normal, maybe it is. However, today it never jumped to the correct time. ran a few errands and started the car a few times and the clock just stayed hours off. the clock does work outside of this random time when you start the car, any ideas?
I did a search and found people who had the clocks lose a few minutes over a few weeks, but did not find anything similar to the issue I am having.
Have this exact same issue - to the letter. Used to self correct after a few minutes now it doesn't and just stays way off. 997.1 C4S. Don't have the answer but would sure like to know!
Cars without Nav lose a few minutes over time. Cars with Nav reset their clocks from the satellites. If your car has Nav, try using it once and see if it will reestablish connection with the satellite and update the clock.
I'm in the same boat. Over the last few months the PCM stopped keeping the correct time but would update after 2-3 min. Today - no update. My date is missing since around Jan 1st as well. I have tried changing from Summer to standard time. Used the GPS (which follows me fine and says 10 Sat's locked) but no time update. I did the Sport Chrono to VDO clock swap a few weeks ago so I do have correct time on the wart. I will try charging the battery over night and see if it makes any difference.
Debating the cost of repairing the PCM vs new head unit.
Same issue. I was getting ready to start a thread. Lost my date, time no longer corrects. Waiting for the system to shut down. Other electronic problems are always an issue. Telephone calls always a challenge, despite Dennison and Tranzit. Ignition switch replacement ordered. Hot starts are a challenge (fixed 8 years ago)
On a positive note new tires and it feels and sounds great. Still runs like a champ
Just another day in the 997.1
haha too funny, it's been so long since i've posted about an OEM issue (my '06 has been so aftermarket / track bastardized!) but this one popped up a couple wks ago and so was thinking of starting a thread. observations:
with car off and i open the door to get in (ie. when the dash comes alive before engine start) it shows the correct time
after engine start, clock immediately goes to exactly 3hrs behind real time and stays this way for the first few mins of driving
also during that first few mins, the location setting - despite being correct - is not selectable and is greyed out.
after that first few mins of driving when the the clock finally reverts to correct time, the location setting menu choice becomes selectable.
man, i hope this is not an omen of bigger electrical issues to come, theyre the worst...
Same thing here on my 2005 C2s. Lost GPS driven date a few months ago, now the time won't update either. Wonder if it's more GPS system changes obsoleting us.
Guess I need to pay attention next time I'm in my wife's car (hers is an 05 C2S and has Nav, mine doesn't) to see if the time is right or if it does anything weird, like display the wrong time then correct itself.
Life is to short to be bothered by this. I just manually set the correct time on the PCM and the time zone now shows GMT-0:28. If it ever updates I will adjust.
Even more reason to love the Sport Chrono to VDO clock swap I did a few weeks ago.
