I am looking at a 2005 C$S with 25,000 miles. Looks decent and dealer has a lot of docs. What to look for? Heard there was an issue with Cam Bearings????? or is it only on high mile cars?
ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED. Oh it's a Tiprtonic model.

You need to post it in the 997 section.

I wouldn't part with any money until you have a Pre-Purschase Inspection (PPI) by a Porsche specialist.
The admins of this board have a buyers guide to the 997.1. "997.1" is the internal model code used by Porsche for models built between 2004 and 2008.

Take a read through this to get your bearings.

A 2005 needs to have the IMS bearing replaced, unless you have records showing its already been replaced. This is critical. A 2005 small bearing IMS car has a 10% chance of failure and if it fails, your engine is toast. However, once replaced you can expect a long and happy life with it. Having a tip complicates the matter as most 2005's have the IMS replaced when changing the clutch.
Tiptronics also trade a steep discount to manuals, as do 2005's due to the IMS issue with them (they were upgraded in 2006 so it was largely not an issue for 2006-2008 cars). So you should expect a healthy discount on this car (~15-20%) for those two in combination vs a manual 2006-2008.

If it's the small bearing - in my opinion that's the smartest money as long as you get it replaced ASAP. Like others have said - read the Buyers Guide sticky for 997.1s - you will be a better horse trader when you're done.

Are you looking at a 996 model C4S? Didn't think the 997 C4S was introduced until 2006. The build year may be late 2005 but I don't think I've ever seen a 2005 997 C4S listed for sale or otherwise.
