How to lighten a 997, rear seat removel
I would like to know, how to lighten my 997 Carrera S, by removing the
rear seats???? I have the rear muffler by-pass and ordered the side mufflers
from Fabspeed. What else???

But being serious, you can also remove the rear subwoofer, I’m not sure how much it’ll save. Probably not something you’d feel on the street.

Wheels. A set of good quality forged wheels can drop close to 40 lbs ( about 10 lbs on each corner) depending on which stock wheels you have and how much you spend on the new set of forged wheels. They not only weigh much less but also add strength compared to stock cast wheels and reducing unsprung weight on the wheels is probably the most effective of the weight reducers to actually increase performance. Next would be seats. The OEM GT2 carbon fiber bucket seats are almost 50 lbs lighter than any of the other stock seats. Not each but for a set of 2.
Neither of these two mods are cheap so you really need to be in a serious weight reduction mode to justify the cost. Just to put things in perspective, the exhaust mods you did may add up to a drop of 20-25 lbs. The wheels and seats just described will approach a reduction of 100 lbs combined.

Manual sport seats instead of power ones, forged wheels, and PCCB brakes.

I've taken out my back seats. Most of the rear carpet (which is heavy) the subwoofer, the subwoofer shelf, and all the insulation padding that is stuffed into the nooks and crannies in the back of the car. Probably pulled out 50lbs + from the back. Did the 3rd muffler delete, super lightweight forged wheels. The front seats I'll do when I can.

The only trick to the subwoofers is you have to pop off the trim rings around the air ports which will reveal little black screws. Once you take those out you slide out the air ports and that will reveal the larger mounting bolts for the sub enclosure.
If you have any plans to add TPC's DSC controller in a .1 car, now is the time to do it as the DME you need to tie into the wiring of for the 3-axis accelerometer is back there under the sub shelf.

I swapped my rear seats/all seat belt accessories and subwoofer for the agency power roll bar, it was an even swap at 45lbs IIRC.
The exhaust is a good way to shed pounds as well, with my custom setup I was able to cut it to less than 1/2 the original headers/cats/mufflers weight. I made a custom one piece Cats/single muffler with integrated x-pipe with weight savings being the #1 priority.
Get an aftermarket FRP or carbon fiber deck lid and you'll save a ton of weight too, I can't remember specifically but it was a significant weight loss not having the bulky metal lid and spoiler and spoiler motor.

If you are 198# and three perent boy fat I’d say to forget about GT2 Sport Buckets (unless you are 6’6”). They are narrow without very much padding, like they were made for skinny european in mind. (I love mine during the cycling season when I am around 155#, less so in the winter when I’m 15+ pounds heavier.)
