Problem: My Bose speakers seem to have one-by-one stopped working until finally the Bose subwoofers and the rear passenger speaker were the ONLY functional speakers.

Investigation: I took the PCM and just started wiggling things until all the speakers came on... unfortunately they all (except the one in rear + subwoofers) stopped working again as soon as I got the center console panels back on! I took the PCM out, wiggling all the wires and connections until realizing the source of the issue was an in-line fuse/coupling that as I rolled it around in my fingers the speakers cut on and off. So...

Solution: I took the fuse out of the inline coupling to check it and BLAMO! All the speakers came to! I put the fuse back in and they cut back out. (odd) So, naturally, I removed the fuse and put the center console panels around the PCM back in place. All the speakers work!

Question: What was that fuse I removed? What is now not operable that was otherwise operable? Seems my sound is still good- but perhaps something on the Bose side is not giving me the Amp juice my caar is equipped with?
The solution to my problem was to yank out the old, previous owner's hands-free calling device, and then everything (except maybe the amp?) magically started working again. I have no idea why this worked, but it's been perfect ever since.

Today in my 2009 Targa 4S I noticed the FM1 is no longer available. I have scrolled through using the tuner button and there's no FM1. FM2 is still working.

Anyone else had this issue?

Hello, my 09 997.2 C2S PCM just went black with no response. Not sure I saw that this has happened to others. Any ideas from anyone how to repair or if I need to completely replace the PCM? Thank you in advance!

I really want to do one of the "PCM 3.0 CarPlay & Android Auto Kit" upgrades as I can only use an FM transmitter to get streamed audio - which sounds terrible and whistles terribly! Has anyone done the PCM upgrade and have it solve the cut-out / sub only sound issue?
I solved the sub-only sound problem simply by replacing the Bose amplifier. I bought a new one from a shop in Shenzhen for a fraction of the normal price. Doubt it if a PCM upgrade alone would help at all.

Pretty sure the problem you mention is in the amp only. Refreshing caps and thermal compound helped me (not a full cure). Anything on the PCM is not apt to help IMHO.

Can you provide the source? I don't mind buying from China... and did a dealer need to code to the amp or did it just plug and play?

Peace

You can try this shop in Shenzhen:980511513@qq.com

My own experience is that buying electronic goods from overseas carries some risks (eg shipping costs for returning defective goods) and the warranty (short term) may only be provided by the shop itself.

It is a plug and play job without the need for coding. My garage even had the amp changed without removing the driver’s seat.

Bruce, let me know if you would like to share your email address with the SZ shop so that they can contact you directly.

Sooo . . . Recapping the amp did not fix the intermittent issue.

Now, when it is working, the screen goes all static and it changes between AM & FM on its own.

Intermittently, of course.

Get pissed at it and just turned it off . . . and . . . it just turns itself back on . . . Of course.

Installing a new Alpine next week.

I will say that I think the amp sounds better with the new caps

Sent the amp to Becker. Seems to be working fine now.
