I was finishing up my new head unit install with the CAI subwoofer harness and melted a small part of the fiber optic cable down by the amp. Really stupid on my part, just carelessness while heatshrinking over the splices for the sub signals. Anwyay, obviously now I have no sound. I see some options on ebay and amazon for 5m fiber optic cables, but they all ship from China.
I'd ideally like something I can get sooner. Does anyone have a source for these fiber optic pins/connectors or cables here in the US? I tried calling my local dealer but they couldn't even locate a part number for this harness. It runs from the back of the PCM3.0 to the Bose amp under the passenger seat. It has what I think is a "male" fiber optic connector on both ends - so just like the end that plugs into whatever MOST/HUR box you are using.
Alternatively, has anyone removed this fiber optic cable and have it laying around by any chance?
Repairs can be done but require specialized equipment. You are better off replacing the damage optical harness.
The eBay ones work fine. For OEM ones search "optical waveguide" in the PET diagrams for your year/make/model (ie. what options? nav? telephone? cd changer? etc.). Example below for the 997.1:
edit: WOW! I just checked prices on those three part numbers. Holy Porsche tax!! If it were me I'd wait for the slow boat from China.
Is it not long enough that you could just cut off the melted part and reconnect?
You can also splice but have to have the right tools to do so.

@semicycler Thanks! found the part number for my car, 99762270125, so slightly different than what you have on the .1 model. Local dealer says it is special order and would take a month anyway! See it around the internet in a few places for about $130, so if it's truly in stock for that price I may just jump on that. Ebay option is always there too.
Definitely enough length to cut and reconnect, but that was my question, you can't just crimp/splice this fiber optic stuff. I see some info about generic fiber optic on the web, but no idea if it translates to this MOST wiring. At a minimum I'm thinking it involves special tools that would cost as much as buying this new harness.
You can reach out to Becker autosound or dension etc for the cable. They were insanely expensive when I asked for an extension.. $10 for the eBay stuff vs $90 from Becker! But that's the price you pay if you want it soon. Ultimately, I was able to stash all the boxes in the cubby without needing the extension.
good suggestion on dension - I found this https://audiojamonline.com/dension-f...xtension-cable - which should do the trick. Assuming the picture is accurate and both cables are sent. The picture is similar on the Dension site, so we'll see

You don't simply cut a FO line. You have to terminate it by polishing the ends and then replace the bad section with a properly aligned fitting. It's not for the average guy to attempt. You need very specialized tools to do this. You will have to wait for China, or write a larger check.
