Default 997.1s DSC Controller

Hello all,

Rookie question, I have H&R springs on my 997.1S with Pasm. I can hook up a DSC Controller & 3 axis accelerometer w/ those springs correct? I just bought the controller & accelerometer from another members and I am excited to add this mod to my car.

Thanks,
b

I don't see why not. You might want to call the DSC Sport guys for some input on programming.

I don't see why not either. DSC controls the shocks, not the springs. You may have to fiddle with the G-tables and stiffness percentages to get the modes working exactly the way you want, so I'd recommend you install a USB cable into the port on the controller that you can tuck behind the carpet and easily access to change programming in the control box without having yo remove it each time.

I have an 06 S with the same. H&R sport springs, DSC box and accelerometer. I am just now researching how to make changes to the programming.
I'll share what I find. I believe there are other threads with a lot of detail but I'm not sure how many maps out there translate to what we have. I'm going to start with a call to Tom at TPC.

I spoke with Tom a few days ago after I had a slightly used set of damptronics put on the car. Alignment and ride height were done to try and match specs for a GT3.....car felt a little floaty afterwards. I called Tom and he walked me thru doing some programming. The car now is night and day. Highly suggest contacting Tom.....the support they offer is great!

Glad to hear that. I think I also need to complete a firmware update. Did you find the interface and changes pretty straight forward to make?

I bought the box last year and was told it had the latest firmware on it. Tom suggested values for Gforces and shock calibration. If I'm understanding correctly the lower the Gforce rating the faster it reacts. For shock calibration the lower the "ma" setting the stiffer the shock is....the higher the setting the softer it gets. Tom walked me through the whole process.

If your DSC was originally configured for 997.1(non-turbo) and you are now installing it in a 997.1(non-turbo), then there is absolutely no need to change the firmware.

Yes you can. I would run the car with the map that's currently in the DSC to get a feel before you even think about making any changes.
DSC mapping is active, not passive. The active range to command the shocks is from 1% to 100%. Basically DSC has access to the full usable range of each shock.
The notion of having a specific shock damping value to match a specific spring rate is more inline with passive damping.
DSC's active damping commands will optimize vehicle weight transfer at higher g-force loads by commanding the shocks to be often stiffer than the springs(momentarily).
Usually any DSC mapping change is at the lower g-force range(less than 0.3g) to the personal preference of the driver to how he/she wants the car to feel at near zero load,

Hi Tom, thanks for chiming in. I did buy it last year for 997.1 NA and that is what is it in. I thought I received an email about an available FW update. I must have miss read it.
I'll call when I get back from vac to see about tuning it to account for my changes.

I missed the race at the Glen last week. Hope the team did well.

Thanks Tom for helping us out. The DSC Controller is coming from a 07 GT3 and is going into my 05 997.1S w/ the H&R springs. So if I’m understanding correctly I don’t have to do the firmware but I will have to change it from the GT3 to the Carrera S?

thanks for your support,
b

Correct. 997.1 GT3 and 997.1 Carrera/S use the same DSC and 3-axis accelereometer.
Here's the installation for the 3-axis accelerometer-
