Default 997 Transmissions - what's your preference - Manual, PDK, or Tiptronic (with Poll)

OK, let's get some accurate statistics and info. Vote for your transmission preference (and it doesn't necessarily have to be what you car has). If you had a Manual before, but sold it and now have a PDK, but would rather go back to manual, then vote for Manual.

Definitions
Manual - this is a 3-pedal choice - clutch pedal, gear shift lever with shift pattern on-top (unless you've changed your **** of course), but you know what I'm talking about
PDK - Porsche's dual clutch sequential manual gearbox - 997.2 generation or newer
Tiptronic - Porsche's torque converter gearbox - 997.1 or older

Reasons for choosing here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...t-vs-auto.html
Even though I disagree with the post materially. I chose, because I respect Petza914

My real choice is MT. Currently driving with TIP S only in M mode.
Today's constraints allow me to have 997 with steering control (TIP S and possibly PDK in the future).
And of course also 911 MT.

It's OK!! You have nothing to apologize for. The vote is fundamentally incorrect. Enjoy your car!

I pref what I have, PDK, so that makes it easy for me.

I didn’t vote, because it depends on the car!

In my 991.1 TTS, I wouldn’t have it any other way than PDK. If it was a 991.1 GTS or 4S, then it would be 7MT for me. My flawed logic will probably skew the poll results. I suppose that in my heart, I’m a manual transmission guy. However, my head knows that the PDK gearbox is perfectly matched to the TTS.

When setting this up I almost checked the box that would allow you to vote for more than 1, but thought that might skew the results, so decided to limit it to one vote per member.

My -06 C4S was a manual with a short shift kit. Loved it. Best manual transmission I ever had. But I'm also drawn to new technology and better performance so had to try the PDK on the next car. Would not go back to a manual. I drive the PDK in manual mode/sport plus 90% of the time and I use the gear lever as opposed to the paddles. So yes.....your left leg is out of the picture and you're not moving the shift lever in the manual H pattern but these are not the horrific, depressing sacrifices to me as it is to some so clearly a very subjective choice.

I think a more informative poll would be one for the 997.1 and another for the 997.2 to see if there is a change in trend.

Absolutely 3-pedal manual for me. My Corvette is a manual also. I've driven PDK's, they're great, but not what I want in a sportscar. I don't race, so what's faster on a track is irrelevant to me. I want the old-school sportscar experience, I just find it more fun.

+1
Couldn't have said it better. Manually shifting through the gears on a nice mountain road is all part of the fun for me.

You know that, when you finish driving and say - it was fun!

Recently, I drove in the mountains. Cold weather. Manual mode with Chrono Sport ON. 997.1 C2S Tiptronic S Atlas Gray with Beige Interior + Sport seats and sport steering wheel - I love my 911
I find the TIP S better every day! Especially when aggressive TIP S is used and learn to do it right.
It's amazing how much the gear system's response changes in relation to the type of driving and rpm (Anyone who drives the car every day with TIP S can understand what I'm writing)..
In the same breath: I miss MT. Unfortunately, I do not have the privilege to purchase Porsche for weekends.
I hope in the future to purchase both 993 manual for Weekends + Track, and stay with the 997 to DD + Track.
PORSCHE All the years make the choices difficult. There are too many options

Voted Tip. Tip is all I know because this is my first Porsche and it is still less than a month old. Did get it out today for some fun driving on a mountain road. Hit 6,200 rpm's in second and I get it now. These things pull hard. Really enjoyed it. I imagine the MT is a blast and PDK is a better version of the Tip. I'm happy with what I have though. RJ
