MT vs Auto
I started this poll on 991 forum. You can check the stats over there

It is interesting to see if 997 population is statistically different.
So which one - Manual or Auto (inc. all the flavors) do you drive?

I predict manual will win even though I'm sure most people have the PDK.
I drive a manual after owning tiptronics and driven many PDK equipped 911s.
The PDK is amazing but I still want 3 pedals and to shift myself.
It's more fun.

Including both 997.1 and 997.2, overall Manual will win for sure. I bet 991 will be majority PDK.

Voted - Manual whenever possible (4 of my 6 cars). Almost bought a different model of Cayenne (957 GTS) just to get the manual transmission, but the extra 150 HP of the Turbo S won out. Wish the Macan Turbo had a MT option instead of PDK only as I'm thinking about one of those for the wife.

Population on these boards will skew the information. Car enthusiasts come here and they will have a higher percentage of manuals.

If my 991 TTS had been offered with Tiptronic as the only option as opposed to PDK, then I wouldn’t have purchased it.

So I don't know how to vote. Here is why...my 996 and earlier cars are all manual and I love that about them but I don't drive them much. 996 just for track, with the JRZ suspension and the manual it is an absolute blast, but that same combo sucks while getting to the track and back, the car beats me up on the crappy seattle highways. My 997.2 and my Lambo are a dream to drive as daily drivers in traffic and on those bad roads because of the technologically advanced transmissions and suspensions. So as long as I live in the overcongested city of Seattle, anything daily driven will be PDK. Out on the country roads and track, manual all the way. Completely different experience. BTW, my 16 year old son prefers manual.

In 33 years of car ownership (starting with a '58 MGA roadster), I've only ever had 1 non-MT car, although the wife has really only driven automatics over the years. Sadly, the art of driving stick - and hence the plummeting demand for MT cars from younger drivers - has almost entirely been lost on successive generations, as evidenced by the fact that my twin 20-year old sons prefer to drive my '12 Cayenne S Tip over my 2010 4S Cab MT. How have I failed so badly as a father ...? On the bright side, there are far fewer capable car thieves out there
