LAPower bluetooth?

On cars that had the phone module, it’s located under the passenger seat. There is a floor plate that the phone module mounts under. Since the MOST ring and power are both available at that location maybe the phone module was removed and the Nav TV unit was installed there? That’s where I put my LaPower unit.
I am able to get both music and phone out of the PCM but I’ve been expirimenting with various MOST configurations as I keep getting the phone not present error, sometimes the amp/nav/phone no t present as well. I’m currently putting everything back together the way I found it and and starting the elimination process over again.

Note: The phone module is actually coded in 2 places: 1) in the Gateway, and 2) in the PCM. In my experience, the Gateway doesn't matter -- it's the PCM coding that needs to be corrected to remove phone unit. The Gateway will see your new LAPower unit as a phone module (hence that coding can stay as is -- or not -- even if it's wrong it won't throw any codes on the screens), but if the PCM coding is wrong, you'll get the on screen error message "Phone not present".

Problema
Hello I know I'm out of date on this subject but had a quick question . I would usually attempt the install on my own but since I just had neck surgery I had to take the la power bluetooth to a shop to install . End conclusion . I can listen to my music from my android phone and make and get phone calls . The only issue is that If not on CD setting my phone call ability is gone . Plus I cant use and buttons on radio to pickup or hang up call on any setting . I dont have a sim card for phone ,but not sure if it matters. I also have module for phone as option on car . Can anyone tell me if that's only way phone will work if radio is only set to CD? Thanks in advance for any help

@brainz, I agree with your thoughts except l think the Lapower unit emulates the CD changer not the phone module. If the car has a CD changer it needs to be physically removed from the MOST ring so the Lapower unit can take its place. If the car had the “prep for CD changer” (I689) option but not the unit itself then the PCM will recognize the Lapower unit as the CD changer, which is what you want. I suspect the tookie unit emulates the factory phone module and now that is missing so he gets the phone module error. I also don’t like that he is getting multiple errors including the Bose amp, it makes me think the MOST ring might be intermittent. I would:
1. Install the Lapower unit and verify the MOST ring is connected properly and with correct polarity.
2. Take the car to the dealer and have them verify the CD changer option is active (on) in the PCM, and that the Phone module option is turned off.

- Make sure the Tookie (or other phone emulating devices) are removed
- Make sure the factory phone, if it existed (is looped out and unpowered -- disconnect the plug).
- Get the dealer to code CDC on and Phone off in the PCM
In my experience, leaving another [factory] phone module in the MOST loop will result in the issues with not being able to use the PCM buttons for phone calls and will also give lots of weird errors including the occasional NAV, amp, CDC, phone missing error. If you always get that error and never get sound, then that suggests a MOST loop issue (fiber broken, routed wrong, etc.).

Agree with this. The issues suggest there's another phone module in the loop that needs to be removed.

Ok so even though my phone works with CD on . To get in working correctly and be able to use radio buttons and not just call phone itself I have to disable the module for phone ? It just keeps asking for sim card and no phone available. I never had phone to begin with so wasnt sure that it would be turned on .thanks again

Just started enjoying the bluetooth streaming and phone calls. then the PCM took a dump...!now takes 5-10 minutes for the screen to turn on. perhaps its time to replace the tech from the 90's.

@Mrizzo You can disconnect the phone yourself if you patch through the MOST fiber ring so the ring is complete (out from and back to the PCM). At that point your phone features should begin to work. But you will need the dealer to turn off the phone feature in the PCM program or you will keep getting the "phone module not found" error message each time you turn the system on.

I was about to put this on my Christmas list, but no longer see this offered on Amazon, other than through a third-party seller with an 88% rating. Is LAPower no longer selling direct on Amazon, or did something else change?

Jeffblak.......can you be a little more specific on how to disconnect the phone module? I had a shop put mine in and I'm not that great with wiring . Can I just unplug the module that's under passenger seat?
