I also know Chris from USP Motorsports and I was a passenger in his 900whp 996tt at PBIR. The most frightening experience ever and I spend my life on track. All the credit to Chris and his driving skill for being able to handle all that power, but when it spooled up...you better hold on. It was fun!
that must've been awesome! talked to that guy for five mins once! cool and super helpful dude, and i was just a guy asking questions. plus he has a 996 turbo that pulls wheelies.
...[you] have clearly never participated in a well run HPDE.
I have driven on the track many times.
The issues I'm opining about (and that I've posted about previously on this forum), are that the 996 Turbo was built to be taken to the track, and that if an owner doesn't take his 996 Turbo to the track he is somehow "wasting" the car, and that the 996 Turbo was "meant to be driven", which typically means that the person offering this "opinion" believes there is some minimum number of miles the car is supposed to be driven/year, or some level of "beating up the car" that is supposed to be done (or both), or the car is similarly considered "wasted". I do not subscribe to either of these opinions. In fact, I completely disagree with them.
It is obvious from what you have posted here and in the past that you have never participated in a HPDE event. And thus have no clue as to what the experience is like or the benefits there of.
