add: except it says it's a MT and clearly its a tip. but it doesn't look bad. can you imagine? for under 30, a turbo that'll conceivably run for several hundred thousand miles?

Looks like that dealership has either 5 star or 1 star reviews on Google, so that makes you wonder a little bit. We went to a restaurant here recently that was just awful, maybe the worst restaurant I've ever been to. When I later looked at their Google reviews, same thing: reviews were either 1 star or 5 star and it was obvious that the 5 star reviews were shills.
On the other hand, they do list 7 Porsches in their inventory, 5 of them being 996 models. None of the 7 were this 996tt either. So, my guess is that the dealership owner or manager has a fondness for Porsches. In Los Angeles, I would think that a tiptronic would be preferable to many people and I think that's a great exterior color (not a big fan of the gray interior, but that's not a deal killer).
I guess you spend the money on a very thorough PPI and have a good look at the title and Carfax and Autocheck if you are interested in it.
Agree with "02996ttx50 that for a 118k miles car, that's not particularly cheap.

greetings! new to board and currently shopping for a 996tt. had a PPI done on this car in So Cal by HRG and it failed.
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/la...363629484.html
price the guy advertises is about $5k less than the price we were discussing. never did see the car in person and the PPI was called off a little over an hour in due to various paint thickness issues.
looking forward to finding my car and following along here. previous air cooled enthusiast so,, so go easy on me...

What cost $115000 in 2001 would cost $153695.48 in 2014.

yeah, $5k less than advertised in that add. this was the second car ive had a failed ppi on... got another PPI on an 03 tomorrow that appears very promising.
this was the car that failed the PPI a few weeks ago. had sat for a period of time not being driven and had a coolant leak at the cooling manifold right at the base of the driver side cylinder bank. it appeared the coolant had never been changed and has eatin through the casting. could not see a hole, crack or actual moisture leak, but plenty of calcium deposits and some green evaporated coolant dust. the shop said it still had the gen one green coolant likely indicating it was original & low.

ok, last one.... http://www.stevenscreekporsche.com/d...-14124230.html
drove this one, but it's pretty beat up & worn. the dealer has done it no favors by skipping a thorough detail... door pockets filled with lint, the motor top is filthy, a ton of pebbles/sand in the radiator area. a ton of hood chips, with a newly painted front bumper (no chin spoiler?) that makes the hood look even worse. door dings galore, and bad, bad sun fading on interior & brake calipers.. interior 7/10 aside from the fade.
on the plus side new clutch & tires
