Default Help with deciding which turbo I have!

Hi

I have a 996 GT2 that previous owner has paid for an upgrade turbos.

But I've been curious about what really is on the car because the company that made uppgradergen has a history of not being completely serious ...

There have been rumors that it will be EVOMS hybrid turbos but I am skeptical about it.

I hope someone here can help me decide if it is the OEM K24 or something more fun :-)

The engine is out and I thought to take this opportunity to change injectors if it really is upgraded turbos ...

Grateful for any help with this issue

You have a pictured STOCK replacement K24's. They are NOT original K24's that come with your GT2 or X50 engine. The original K24's will have the Porsche part number on the Gold or Blue ID tags.

Ok, it was interesting to hear, thanks Kevin!

Then, there has been replaced turbos after all, strange that they changed to the same as before?

The first owner paid for a RUF upgrade!
He has not got what he payed for in other words

The upgrade was done when the car was about 6 months so they should not have been because they were worn out.

It sits EVOMS 1 Bar WG on them so the logical idea is of course that it was EVOMS motorsport hybrid turbos too.

Have searched everywhere for information on how EVOMS K24 is equipped but not found anything.

Anyone have info on them or a picture and measure of their compressor?

could someone have swapped the Turbos before you bought the car, or did you buy it direct from the previous owner?

I am well acquainted with the former owners.

It's only two owners before me.

The upgrade of the car was commissioned by the first owner who is a good friend of mine.

He had the car until 2009 then it was another friend of mine who had it for 1 year and he did nothing with it.

He was going to have it as a daily commuter car and it was not the right car for him

So I have full control of the car's history, the first owner has been blown on the money I suppose ...

The person who made the upgrades in that time have done very dodgy business.

But it is very strange why he took the cost to replace the turbos to the equivalent!

Logically, there should be some thought behind the turbo switch so it is rumored that is not the RUF turbos but significantly cheaper EVOMS turbos that were in the car.

But it now appears that it apparently is not even EVOMS turbos ...

looks like someone has been mislead into paying a premium price. I assume you will be steering away from the tuner these guys used?

Have you asked the original owner what was done and what shop did it? That may provide some answers.

Barth, again from the pictures that you have posted showing the size on the calipers> you have stock K24 compresor wheels. Not hybrids. I have repaired several RUF turbochargers and know the correct sizing. I am actually repairing a set right now. Have you checked to see if you have a RUF ECU? Check for yourself. The ECU should have the green RUF sticker on the ECU. If you have the RUF ECU and exhaust getting the correct turbochargers isn't difficult. Email me if you need more help.

Could it be so that EVOMS K24s are modified on the hot side?
No i don't have RUF ecu, the MAP are performed by the German bloke ho did it for RUF back in the days.
He sadly died for a couple off years ago!

What K16 hot sides? What is larger than K24 hot sides??? Take pictures of the hot side and turbine wheel. I'll tell you what it is from a picture. You could have K16/24's... I would need to see a picture of the turbine wheel and turbine housing. You don't need to measure the wheel.

Lastly, if you are thinking that you have EVOM's hybrids. The pictures that you have posted are not consistant to the Garrett based hybrids that they have used. I do see that aftermarket actuator but that it..
