Finally finished the interior off with the Meguiars, long story about why it's taken me so long (ending with me selling the 928 today), and I have to say I don't like the smell. Anyone else use it? It's taken away my nice leather smell and it's now a sickly sweet smell, and not a nice one. Left streaks all over the dash too? I phoned the garage that I bought the car off 6 months ago, as they detailed it before I picked it up, and the guy says they only used soapy water with no treatment.

The smell will go away in a few days. Also,I don't know why it left streaks on your dash,it didn't leave on mine. Did you use the one that squirts, not the paste?
If the smell bothers you,I guess it's Porsche leather approved products for you...
Or there should be other good products for this... Others? Opinions?

Zaino makes a great leather cleaner and conditioner. Also plain saddle soap will do well on a microfiber towel.

Use zaino on the leather that touches you and aerospace 303 on the rest. You do not want to moisturize the leather on the dash, just protect it from UV.

It was a beautiful late Spring day, so I put the top down and just drove.

Thanks for that, looks like the stuff I need is "Z-10". I'll give it a try.

Just curious, why not treat the leather on the dash?

The dash and other leather parts (door panels) are specially treated from the factory (not the seats). The leather actually goes through a process to remove moisture so it will not "move". This is great as long as you don't moisturize the leather (which is what most leather products do). Use the Aero 303 as it is a sunscreen not a moisturizer.

"All leather is not the same. We work with classic upholstery leather, but we also work with low-shrinkage leather. The instrument paneling, for example, can get extremely hot in summer. If the material starting tightening, what would that look like after a while? So we're talking about leather whose residual moisture has been largly removed, which means that it won't be able to shrink later." (Christophorus, No. 276 January 1999)

I use maguires detailing wipes on the leather pieces I don't sit on. Works well.

I drove 186 miles with average speed of 99,42 miles per hour without breaking the law. Passed a cop car going 140 mph. You gotta love German autobahn!

Oooooppps. I'll need to keep an eye on the dash while in the sun next week. Normally sunshine isn't a problem here in Scotland, but I'm taking the car on a road trip.
