Jon, the "load" values have a purpose for the future modules. The readings from the ECU are solid and will give myself and customers a solid baseline for torque models.
Brenton, congrats on the new purchase. The data from this new tool requires some basic engine knowledge. For example: A question that repeats itself over and over is > where is my boost. The answer isn't straight forward. A boost leak will show itself real quick when one looks at the "requested boost" and compares it to the "actual boost" If you ECU is requesting 1 bar and you see .6 bar. We have a leak.. However, if the requested boost is alot lower than what you should normally see, you should look to the other engine sensors and check for any stored engine codes. You might find out that you have a fuel pump failing > timing and boost will be pulled.
As far as in car viewing, a video output is planned for "later" development and release. For safety I do not recommend laptop viewing. What I have told customers over the years is to start the datalogging feature and stowe the laptop on the passenger side floorboard. Out of sight/out of mind. If you have a passenger he can view the Real Time values that a displayed.
There will be instructions for all sensor values that we are logging. I have spent hours in the past explaining all the raw data to "many" folks here on this board.
Pete, for the 996TT ME7 the EGT values are calculated internally in the code. For the 997TT the values are picked up from sensors mounted in the turbine housings.
Today has been a milestone for the new data logging tool. The tool was used to check and clear engine DTC codes prior to starting the logging function.
Just joining this thread late... is this also designed to work on the 997.1TT??? How long before it is commercially available?? If it is still in beta, would you like a beta tester based in australia?
So it's nice and quick... Kevin how many lines per second is the maximum your logger can capture?? And Cueto, is your windows partition correctly aligned to a 512K boundary?? Apparently, it's important for both longevity and speed... maybe there's a small improvement to be had this way if it's not already optimised...
The log shown below was the motivation to invest and to bring my data logger to Porsche community. I received this from a Rennlister recently. There is just not enough data to see what the engine is doing.
I have replied to all the previous emails for those that have expressed and interest in the new logger. If I have missed anyone please email me or call me.
Please note that I have purchased 3 IBM laptops for a few guys that wanted me to install the software and get it up and running. If interested let me know.
