Is this logger still limited to 100Hz sample rate?

Ah, you're logging CAN data from the OBD port and not actual analog sensors, sorry I should have read more of the thread. 100Hz is about tops for a CAN message broadcast rate, at least in the J1939 world i live in, I'm not familar with the OBD protocol. 100Hz is very slow in terms of the big picture for data acquisition as a whole.

At this time or into the near future theres No plans for a IPAD logger from Ultimate Motorwerks.

928 driver.. Getting the handshake and logging with the PSM, ABS, and Dash cluster while driving is not as easy as it sounds. Most commercial loggers are only getting 3 to 5 samples per 1000RPM with only 6 to 8 sensors.

Maybe a silly question -- but if I have a Proto tune I can still high-speed log with this tool, right?

All 996, 996TT, GT2 and GT3 and 997, 997TT, GT2 and GT3 Bosch Motronic based will work with the Ultimate Motorwerks Datalogger. Remember Windows based laptop.. Inexpensive laptops can be had 2nd hand thru auctions and CL.

US cars use 500Kbs CAN. (European cars favor 250Kbs.)

In some vehicles the amount of CAN bus traffic is amazing. Door lock status, seat belt status, and God only knows what else fly by at a blur.

Also, not all cars at least not all Porsches use CAN for OBD. As recently as my 2008 Cayman S it used an iSO protocol for OBD and CAN for its "Komfort" bus.

While CAN was mandated for 2008 seems like a lot of car makers asked for and got permission to postpone switching to CAN.

ISO as you know is much slower than CAN. IIRC queries have be separated by 50ms and then one has to wait a long time to ensure all ECUs have responded.

ISO buses with multiple ECUs is a real pain to deal with.
