Here's another...and FYI, I had a bad tappet solenoid with a good bracket one one side that was causing a misfire CEL and a broken bracket on the other side that did not cause anything...however, I do know of a case where the broken bracket was the cause of misfire CEL's.

Misfire code popped up today - PO300 and 305. All plugs and coils were replaced within last 3000 miles. Cleared the codes, going to see if they come back -

JG. I had the same problem about two weeks ago. Plugs and coils per Kevin's recommendation 2K miles ago. I got a couple of flashing check engine lights under hard acceleration. Hooked up the reader and had the same codes as you.

I went to log a couple of runs to send to Kevin but stopped to fill the tank first. Couldn't get it to happen again.

When I got the misfires, I was running gas I got in a pinch (not my usual brand or station). With my regular gas, the problem went away. I'm going to watch it, but my guess is it might have been a fuel issue.

You might start with that before replacing parts. Can't hurt.

Funny, we had about 4 inches of snow and having just mounted winter wheels/tires, I went out for a ride and took a right turn hard enough to invoke PASM and CEL came on right after that. So, perhaps it won't come back.... I'd rather not have to replace anything.

Thanks for the input.

So when I go to replace the solenoid bracket is the solenoid going to stay in place or will it pop out?

Sames codes returned after fuel refill.

Car was going in next month anyway; oil pressure sender, DVs, might as well check the solenoids and brackets too.

Also going to have "new" X73 installed

Yes, meaning I haven't had a code since late December. Changed DVs, tappet solenoid brackets, and took a few long road trips since then. (At the same time I had X73 installed.)

Not sure if any of the above resolved the issue, or I just needed to run it on a long trip, but, no codes in three months....

Ah, thanks for response. I just had plugs and coils swapped and got these CELs afterwards. Worried I also need to swap tappet sensor brackets as well. Will put some mileage on and find out I guess.

Make sure your plugs have been properly torqued down. The clown that sold me my 996tt changed the plugs himself and didn't tighten them properly. I had the same exact fault code #'s 3 and 6. All better now.

^ if you're going to re-torque the plugs, might as well swap out the solenoid brackets (they're not expensive)
