Question opinion on high mileaage 996 Turbo

Can you guys help me with an opinion on what an 02 996 TT 6-speed should be worth with 87k miles? Granted everything is based on condition but I'm just looking for some general opinions. Obviously this is a price point turbo. Car is a minimally optioned car. Carbon Black / Black. No paintwork. Some previous service records. At what price point is this car a good value for someone looking a turbo at a price point assuming it all checks out? Thanks in advance for any opinions / info.

Jason

48K or less. If it is stock and hasn't been abused (check the DME etc), it has a ton of life left. But, you have to leave enough in reserve for an expensive repair. Unfortunately, ths car is at the left end of the bell-shaped curve. I would prefer a 30,000 mile car at 60K AS

i agree with alexander. i would feel better if it was a one owner car-just a car that was used as a daily driver. obviously, get a good porsche mechanic to check out the car first. remember, you could get an 03 with 30k miles on it for 60k, as alexander says.

Rennlist member "T2" uses his 996TT as a daily driver (snow and all) and has ~100K miles IIRC (more than that on his Cayenne Turbo).

Send him a PM and ask him what issues/consumables/wear items he experienced along the way.

FWIW, I can think of a lot of other 996TT's to get, they're not exactly hard to find. The price for this better be well below 50K. A CPO would be a definite plus, but I doubt it's a dealer car with that mileage.

Guys, Thanks to all that have chimed in. No CPO, I'd certainly be on my own regarding repairs (doubt any warranty company would write one on that kind of high mileage turbo car) Car is all stock visually, but good call on checking the DME. Keep the good thoughts coming.

A little OT, but I hope someone can explain why Turbo cars almost always have less mileage than the non-turbo variants? Do these non-turbo cars usually run for twice as long because they are less stressed?, Do the turbo cars get driven less regularly? Are Turbos are tracked more often?

My take is the turbo cars are usually weekenders. Whereas many NA cars are DD's.

I don't think it has anything to do with reliability.

As to pricing, this car is in the 40's for sure. Probably mid to high 40's depending on condition and what kind of maintenance work was done recently.

I have owned Porsches for 20 years.

They are the toughest cars around, if it passes PPI good, I would not have a problem with anything under 200k miles.... Priced accordingly obviously.

I'm curious - what is my car worth these days? 02 speed yellow, loaded w full CF, etc., ordered new - one owner, 66,000 miles and undergoing Protomotive 650 upgrade..the car is extremely well cared for and looks brand new inside and out. Not interested in selling - just curious. Zero issues - clean history.

87,000 miles is up there. I would consider how you are going to drive it. if it is a weekender, and you plan on keeping it for a while, the mileage wouldnt scare me IF the price was right. As a daily driver, i would same no way b/c it will have huge miles on it in a few years. Also, resale will be a big issue .... just ask the guy that owns it now!

40-45% of MSRP, based on being classified as 'high mileage'.
FWIW, 01 996TT, 6K miles, never in rain, $131K MSRP was valued at $60-$65K.

It was a great deal. It had to be all highway miles as the interior and exterior looks great with only a few stone chips on the nose. List was $142K including Nav system. Has all records from dealer since new. No problems yet

LTC - thanks for the intro!! Buy one you know is a real deal or have a dealer that you have or will have a reputable relationship with go through it - never look back and drive it like it's a simple check to write every month - do the regular service and oil changes every 5k miles and enjoy it!!
