Kevin, I am not very familiar with roll bars, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the Panamerica is just the bar without cross bracing. Can you confirm as to whether it has the cross (harness) bar or not? If it has the cross bar, I am interested.

Are you buying this to comply with NHRA rules? If so you need a Cage once you hit sub 11.5 or trap higher than 130. I'm not sure on the exact amount of bracing needed to comply with it, but i know a roll bar alone does not comply with these rules....I will do some more research and post back up with the actual cage requirements.

GTi35R,

Yes, sort of - I would be interested to hear what you find out. The goal is to comply with local track regulations, not NHRA sanctioned events. They are requiring a roll bar, fire suit, SFI 16.1 - 2 year seat belts and extinguisher within reach for below 11.5, but not a cage.

Kevin,
I put that exact bar in my car earlier this year.
I bought it from C4S Surgeon. $600 and was a good deal.

I like it as a "first line of defense"

GTi35R,

NH. I did a little research...the track hosts IHRA events, not NHRA. A roll bar is required for under 11.5 - a roll cage is not required until under 9.00

BTW - what exactly does this mean? Seat belts meeting SFI Specification 16.1 within 2 years expiration from date of manufacture.

I notice that 5 & 6 point harnesses meet this criteria, but do the stock 3 point belts?

yup, from your pics it looks as if you are still on the stockers.

Basically that law is trying to say if you changed the seat belts, they have to be a five point or six point mounted correctly on the cage/roll bar and the floor of the car.

Your stockers are fine until a sub 10 sec quarter.

BTW...I just wanted to say I love your car...its pretty much everything I want my "future 996 turbo" to be.

GTi35R,

Thanks for the compliments. Are the stock seat belts OK if they are more than 2 years old or do they have to be replaced / inspected every two years?
