Keeping everything in one thread... This is the issue I had with one of the turn signal lights.
Before leaving the car for service this morning I decided to take out both lights and compare the sockets. Sure enough... and not sure how I did not notice... but the socket contact was a little bit melted and pushed inside not allowing it to make contact with the housing contact. It was very obvious once I compared it with the other one.
Placed an order for a new one - Part No. 996-631-118-00 (US$20.90)
I bent slightly the housing contact and it is working for now but best to just put a new socket in there to avoid the contact area to get hot again...
Bad side of the socket, notice how the contact is not sticking out as it should... possibly due to a bad contact area that created a hot spot and melted the plastic around the contact allowing it to get pushed inside:
Good side:

Ignition switch failed. When I turn off the engine and took the key out of the car, it still thinks my key is still in. Power and everything still on. I had to put the key very slightly back in and turn it counter clockwise a few times. I also have a problem with putting the key into the ignition now. I have to jiggle it and try different angles to get it in. Making an appointment to validate if it is covered by CPO. If not I will change it as the part that breaks seems to be fairly inexpensive.

Well... seems the car does not like to be sitting in the garage for extended periods of time... I am using the 964 as a daily driver for the past month (great top down weather even if we had a few rainy days...) and the 996TT was nice and warm in the garage with its trickle charger (btw, the light on the charger finally went off after a few days plugged into the car...)…
I took the car out this past Saturday to attend a PCA breakfast and the check engine light came on ???? no idea why… I will find out tomorrow after they go over it at the Porsche shop…

Problem turned out to be an oxygen sensor... but it started working again... the tech identified the offending sensor... so if it happens again we can double check and change it. For now I can continue to use the car since it is all back to normal. I have to say, the folks at the Orlando Porsche Service department are a real pleasure to work with.

Simply buy 37 rolls of blue 3M painter's tape, tape up the car, pay attention to your instructor, and enjoy. Your 996TT will be at less of a risk than driving it on the street.
Longer term, the choice of a dedicated track appliance (equipped with all the necessary personal safety equipment.....H&N restraint, 6-7 points, rollcage, seats, fire suppression system, electrical cutoff switch, etc....) is a good one.
