Default 02 996 TT MT - Europipe/100cel Cats/IC's/MarkSki Tune beat 991.1 tt?

I was totally happy with my stock 02 996 TT MT car.... until my wife picked up here 15 991.1 TT PDK. Holy cow is that car fast.

I'm planning the following mods.... will this get me close to 991.1 tt 0-60 and quarter mile?

IC's (ECS Brand)
MarkSki tune
Europipe St2/100 cell cats

You challenge is going to be trying to keep up with modern tech on a computer controlled launch. You will be good on the highway, but not off the line. Not even close. Here is me against a Performante w/hybrid k24s and all the supporting mods. I walked him down, but it took a half mile. A 991.1 Turbo S that was tuned with exhaust was WAY worse. I couldn't even catch him in the 1/2.

Lin - your car sounds great.... and oh boy is that a recipe of mods.....

I lived in SA 3 yrs ago... we did a lot of F -car club drives in hill country. Best roads ever.

Back to my 996 - I'm not worried about a dig..... I just need more midrange for club drives..... so I'm not left in the dust.

In short, no. The PDK stuff is unreal fast from a dig. To even dream of competing there you would need like 700 wheel HP + and insane driving maybe. From a roll you might be able to hang with a bit more than 1 bar of boost and a buch of mods. You would need some K24 turbos or better. 996 is a good analogue drivers car and has its merits, just can't match the PDK for speed.

for the $$ the 991.1 tt is a performance bargain..... we got her's for just under $100k.

I've been playing with old analog E36, 996 TT MT, and 360 Gated cars..... the 991.1 is just a step up!

Markski will get you right then. He does well and treats his clients amazingly.

PDK beats a manual every time.

The only downside is the weight of them is more but they are an amazing piece of tech. It would be fun to have one of each.

Is it possible to add a launch control to the stock ecu tune?

My 02 WRX had an openECU flash that essentially let you cap the rev limiter to 4500 or 5000 RPM (whichever was optimal) until the car reached 3 or 5 MPH so it would let you build ~4 lbs of boost on the peashooter TD04 turbo it had. I tried it a few times but those 5 speeds were glass and I wasn't willing to risk it.
My Tiptronic can only hit 4K rpms in neutral and it will build boost..which reminded me of my WRX.

This might help the 0-60 time if possible.

There is no way my 996 can beat my 991 off the line.

There is no way my 991 will ever give me the smiles per mile that the 996 does with a manual.

3rd gear pull, head to head, the 996 will slightly edge out the 991.

The 991 is effectively stock, the 996 is not stock at all.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I watched a video where Ben Collins (aka The Stig) drives his 997 turbo on the race track and then drives a 992 Turbo S. The difference in lap times between the two was staggering, something like 12 seconds! That's just an eternity, there really isn't a replacement for technology. Our cars are very fun, but don't hold a candle to the newer generation 911 turbos performance wise.

I am intrigued by the idea of buying a cheap high mlg 991.1 tt.... and make a track car.... lightwgt, tune...sticky tires.

The acceleration of my previous 991.1 Turbo S was almost electric car boring to me. Simply mashing the pedal to reach warp speed got old pretty quickly for me.
