How does that work?

I forget the specific criteria for it (car not moving and clutch pedal pressed, or just the clutch pedal pressed), but it lowers the rev limit to 4000rpm so you can just hold the gas pedal down for launches instead of trying to hold it steady at a specific RPM.

And brake boosting for those not familiar is when you downshift to a lower gear and then floor it while holding down the brakes to maintain speed, thus putting a heavy load on the car and making the turbos spool. Then you let off the brakes and rocket forward. It's a fun highway party trick (but hard on the brakes).

That's a pretty cool feature, protects the drive line until rolling.

What about at speed?

Square peg……Round hole!

Two totally different cars. Treat them as such!

This.

TBH re turbos anything from Garrett 3071, 3076 upwards with a Sachs 890nm. Build revs to 5000 rpm and drop the clutch and (with practice) you'll smoke your wife

Markski your man for sure. Having said that harder than you think straight line launching and drag racing a manual 996 turbo. Tip is easy just left brake and build boost then just let go of the brakes.

I don't think powdrhound got that memo.

Very little about powdrhound's car resembles a factory 996 turbo anymore.

Cobb has brake boosting for like 3 seconds. Car launches pretty good at speed.

So that's holding the brakes when running and flooring it?

Manual will never beat that dang PDK. However, I have the Markski tune and did WG, IC, etc. all the stuff that's recommended, and my car is quick, running a little under 500 whp/tq. I can keep dead heat with new manual ZL-1 Camaro of my friend's, but I've never raced a 991....

I wonder if a tuned Tiptronic might actually be better for this task so you can always stay on boost. I drove a 997TT with the Tiptronic and it was FAST.

Quick Reply: 02 996 TT MT - Europipe/100cel Cats/IC's/MarkSki Tune beat 991.1 tt?
