Default Uncomfortable driving position

LOL, I did a search through the forum and couldn't find any complaints. So here we go.

I find the seats (none Sport seats) very uncomfortable to the point that they make my right foot hurt. The paint is very sharp and feels like a combination of tingling, burning, needles and numbness. Has anyone have the same issue? I bought the car 3 weeks ago and I can't seem to find a comfortable driving position. I am 5'7" and wonder if I am the only one with this problem. If you had the same issue.... what did you do to fix it? Nothing else have changed with me, I still wear normal shoes and I have no problem with the other cars I drive. This is just related to the 996TT. Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Not uncommon IMO.

My personal technique is to stop every hour and a half or so and walk around. It doesn't completely solve the problem, but it helps.

997 seats, the 997 is more comfortable, I think the seats are different. The 996 seems to have an strange seating position.

A friend recently sold his 997 solely because he could never get comfortable in the seat.

The Tiptronic is the root cause.

I know, it feels like you are sitting in a normal house chair but with no legs and it's reclined backwards.

I keep the seat in my 996 much less reclined that I normally would in other cars and that helps me with comfort.

Your seats are deep from use imo, looks like your right buttcheek is lower, buy a foam pad to compensate and put your wallet in your front pocket.

Yes, sitting more upright does help.

Do you have a better suggestion than getting out of the car to become more comfortable. It’s pretty obvious that you may not spend a lot of time in your 996 since you have owned it for 18 years and have 48,000 some odd .miles on it.

2800 miles a year pretty low for any car,

My issue was my right leg (lower) would rest against the center console and effectively go to sleep.

I have rectified that with a neoprene sleeve (usually used for knees) and place it only leg where it comes into contact with the console.

Problem has been solved, at least on round trips of 400kms +, I need to take a longer trip and see how it plays out.

I too have had similar thoughts for the 996 and 997 series. I have a 2018 GT3 991.2 with the racing buckets, and regularly drive 4-5 hours without too much complaint. In fact, I am sure many will disagree, but I find the seats in the 991.2 much more comfortable than my prior Porsches.

Not sure why - as they should be more uncomfortable. I will share this though. I think it has more to do with how much adjustment they allow the steering wheel. In all of my cases, the position of where I place the wheel has been a major culprit in whether a car is comfortable or not.

I can't stand having anything in my pockets while driving. The wallet indent is thanks for the previous owner :-(. But I did not notice that the seat sits a bit deep. I need to check on a nice leather cushion and see if that helps.
