I noticed in the picture that there seems to be a slight depression in the right side, mine had the same thing.

I took my seat out and turned it over and there was a support wire that runs side to side right there. It had popped out and was allowing the seat cushion foam to pop out and it was hanging in space. This made a depression that my right butt sank into and always made me feel like i was sitting in a pit. Sit in the passengers seat to see if your issue is the wear and tear on the drivers seat or the seats themselves.

There are two plastic side pieces under the seat with the foam suspended between. I put some holes in the plastic and laced tie wraps across creating sort of a loose web that supports the foam. My seat is much more comfortable now. Well worth the hour and a half it took. it also allowed me to get all the stuff out that falls in between the console and the seat.

Besides selling the car? No.

Two points:

1. You might want to ask how many miles I have on my 996 Turbo before making up some number. Just a suggestion.

2. The number hours spent in one's 996 Turbo is not directly related to the total miles on the car. For example, if someone spends a lot of time in their 996 Turbo driving in traffic at slow speeds, then the seat time could be high relative to the miles driven. On the other hand, if someone spends the same amount of time in the seat but at higher speeds than city traffic speeds then the miles on the car will be higher (for example one hour at an Interstate speed of 70 mph versus one hour at city speed of 30 mph; both log one hour of seat time, with the first case putting 70 miles put on the car, and with the second case putting just 30 miles on the car.)

I spend a lot of time in mine crawling, so that is a good point; my current 'average' speed within the city limits is 37km/h...

Well unless you are planning on doing a re/re on the seats and their geometry, it is hard to see what more you can do...

They are uncomfy and the bigger you are, the worse it gets.

I am looking at doing this, with new Recaros to get a bit more adjust-ability - but this, may not be for everyone...

Great info. Thanks. I am going to take the seat off and see if I can fix the support of the foam.

That may be it as well. If that’s not it maybe sport seats would be better. The 996 seems to have a higher more forward seat position.

I've had several 996s over the years, with and without the Sport seats. In my opinion, they are pretty equal in comfort and feel; although the Sport seats are a bit narrower so if you aren't a skinny person you'll probably feel more like you're sitting "on" them rather than "in" them.

Hes got a point though, my 97 wrangler has better seats than my turbo does. Same with my 99 discoII.
These "comfort" only problem i have with them is my lower back hurts after a while.

Try sitting on a small down pillow. I used to use one on long trips and it helps. Also start stretching exercises for the muscles in the back of your legs. They pull on the muscles in your back. It works.

Easy to think about changing something with the car but sometimes the solution is the driver.

Same. It's my lower back.

It was the same complaint my friend had with his 997 C4S (that he sold.)

You're getting old man!
What part of your leg exactly feels like it's getting numb/tingly?

If you have tried all possible positions that the seat and wheel adjustments will allow, the next step might be to get different seats. I have a set of 997 gt3/sport seats sitting in my garage. I found them very comfortable. I'm now in a fixed back seat which I also find very comfortable.

Buy a new foam seat cushion for ~$100 and replace the old foam. That made a big difference for me.

I moved the seat forward at least 3" and I also moved the steering forward against the cluster. I will try it out tomorrow and also play with the recline. Fingers crossed and hope it will work better than the adjustment I had. I really like the car but man these things are uncomfortable. Maybe I need to get some Ford Focus RS seats and install those, lol.

I have sport seats - is there really that much difference between 'sport' and comfort other than the little shoulder pads?

It's toward my groin. Remember that nothing else has changed with me other than buying this Porsche 3 weeks ago. My other cars are fine and no pain. I weight about 162 lbs and I am in excellent shape and a runner so I can only think of the TT not liking me, lol. Or wait, you could be up to something. I turned 48 last Friday so maybe I got old.
