I think the seat bottom of the sport seats has a little more bolstering, as well. The comfort sofas have practically nothing there.

I have the comfort sofas with lumbar, and I definitely max out the lumbar support adjustment.

Deleting the lower console (aka. GT3 center console) also freed up more leg room and allowed me to sit closer without my right knee being crammed into an especially awkward position. The downside is that I have even less lateral support in the twisties, now.

Got to say I am seriously considering the BBi Recaro conversion.

I think if I can 'rotate' the seats position, ie lower the front, drop the bottom and lift the rear, ever so slightly, it will fit my 200+ lb 48 year old frame, 'better', as it were...

The neoprene leg sleeve has helped immensely - not so uncomfy, but the largest trip I've done since last may is only 400kms, so I may very well have a different opinion knocking down 1000kms a day...

These "comfort" only problem i have with them is my lower back hurts after a while.
The 997 seats seem more comfortable than the 996 seats. I’m not sure if putting them in a 996 positions them differently but it’s worth a shot.

Probably not,

Not a whole lot. The Sport seats have a "deeper" bottom that makes them feel a bit narrower and they have a tad more bolstering on the sides, but they're pretty similar.

Yes, I fit in them as well as a guy as big as me can fit in them. I actually find them quite comfy, but the right leg resting on the console needed attention.

My ex had spine and leg issues from a horseback accident, and couldn't sit in one position very long without severe pain. She had gel cushions in her car, my car, and her chair in the house, and they really made a difference. I don't recall the brand, but they weren't hard to find. You may want to try that before swapping out the seats entirely. I do agree with those who prefer the 997 seats; my 997 seats are a lot more comfortable than my 996 seats were.

Hmm...could be seat belt or just too much hip flexion causing lateral femoral cutaneous nerve compression, or upper lumbar nerve root if it's truly in your groin. True intra-articular hip pain from arthritis/labrum/whatever also hurts in the groin, but would be more pain than numbness/burning.
Does it feel better if you lay the seat back a little?

My mechanic pointed out my seats have lost some spring support, or padding, in my 18 year old seats. He recommended I talk to an outfit he's used to improve the experience. I have not, so no further information.

Do your 996 Turbo seats (in their current condition) cause you any leg/hip/lumbar discomfort?

Stretching my hamstrings helped me when I was driving 40k miles a year and experienced similar discomfort.

Edit: not in my 996tt haha

I guess I’m not the only one to complain about the seats. I love my 996 Turbo BUT I have never been happy about the seat comfort from day one. That is my biggest complaint about this car. I always feel like I am sitting on them rather than in them. My friend has the same car but with the sport seats and I find them to be a little better than mine. I don’t carry my wallet in my back pocket or my leg will go to sleep. One thing I will say about the 991 models is much better seat comfort, I feel like I’m sitting IN them rather than on them, just the way it should be. Is what it is, I just live with it.
