6 handle is a joke for a (hopefully) no stories car with low miles like that one.

Wonder if the Seller had someone bump the bid to 65? I bumped the bid up slightly over 65k, so we shall see how the 65k bidder responds...lol.

I am tempted to fix your bid and place one for 66,996. However if I get a second 6gt3 I may have to live in my garage.

With two of them, there are worse places to live....

One nice thing about about BAT is I don’t think shill bidding is very common. Doing so is super so risky for a seller because even if the shill doesn’t consumate the transaction, Bat is charging that credit card ASAP!

You're right...maybe just read into it a bit.

I've always been concerned about shill bidding on BAT when the seller informs friends of what the reserve is and has them bid it the car up closer to that amount while staying just under. It's crazy that I've run some pretty clean cars on there with no action while others get much more bidding attention.

Right, I've yet to see one in the wild as well, the majority of bay area 6GT3s must be garage queens. I see plenty of 991.X GT3/RS in my area, the only 997 GT3 i know about is my buddies 7.2 RS. I guess (almost) everyone wants the latest and greatest haha. Will probably go to Alice's when my beater rotors come in.

Jokes aside, congratulations on the car, send pics when you get it!
Congrats to both of you.

Add me to the silver club, picked one up about ten days ago.

That's a good point. But on the other hand, I guess I'm not too concerned about below-the-reserve shill bidding, since I'm not going to be winning the auction at those price points anyway. I got into a bona fide, last minute bidding war when I bought my scud in August (it was a cheap, high-mileage example) and the seller had sold like 100 cars on bat, but I know the other guy was not a shill as he is on rennlist and he has become a friend! I think it just comes down to "who is in the audience." Kind of like a real auction. You get two or three well-heeled, motivated bidders at a live auction and you can break records. If one of them is sick with the flu (or something else), then maybe the bidding war never materializes! I think the car also makes a difference. If the car is truly unique for some reason (i.e., 800 mile Acura integra that goes for 50k or something like that), then I think folks realize there may not be another chance to own such a car. 991 generation gt3's are great and all, but options on the open market are so plentiful no one is going to overpay for one on BAT! I think that's why bidding was fierce on my scud. Not many "driver" quality cars out there with high mileage going for cheap. I knew I had to jump on this one if I was ever going to be able to become an owner (since I'm not buying a garage queen, $200k ferrari that I would be forced to stare at in my garage for fear of mileage-related depreciation (which is very real--and insane--in Ferrari land)

I have to say, I am not too thrilled with BAT. Right after my bid of $65,500 put me in the lead again, the Seller conveniently mentioned the Carfax showing an engine replacement/issue with the Carfax. I emailed BAT immediately to bring this to their attention, and received an email today, after I was outbid, that basically states no harm no foul...since I was outbid.

I have asked that they clarify how this would have played out if I were to have been the winner of the auction. I am awaiting their response.

Happy to discuss what your thoughts are on this as I think it is up for debate whether I indeed misstepped, the Seller, or BAT did.

Seller screwed up big time. I believe there is precedent for bid cancellation when something shows up after the fact.

BaT is a great place to sell if you're willing to please the peanut gallery. I would never buy anything.

Edit: the carfax thing seems to be a non-issue from a desirability standpoint, but the seller should have been aware and noted it.

My sentiments exactly. Figured I would throw some bids that could win the car out there, but not guarantee it. Then this occurred.

I don't believe for a second the Seller was unaware of this, and I place some blame on BAT for not skimming the listing and fact checking before it went live.

I hold some blame for not catching this myself, but the Seller stated a clean Carfax and I assumed there would be no discrepancy.

Next car will be purchased from a forum member...
