Filed mine over a year ago and just got contacted yesterday for follow up. I also sent them a few links for additional reading. Mine happened at the track as well. Only partially fixed as they welded the three pipes with issues. Still very expensive and dangerous!

yes. Investigator now pulling the older complaints that did not set off alert. Yes send links. Even to me - I'm trying to facilitate. This is a serious concern to me . If you fixed 3 the other fittings need to be addressed. The others also will be failing. I'm not an Engineer but I know. I have a fear of it happening in front of me on the track or highway.

I got the welds this yr. but assume I can't report unless I personally had a leak. Should I report I had to weld because of all the orher leaks and didnt want to crash?

yes- we all got them repaired for SAFETY so we could drive these wonderful cars. That's the whole point. Report it - we may get reimbursed.

My pipes didn't fail but I had them wielded because my wife would like me to come back from DEs alive.

I filed. But I think you midread my post and misunderstand the proper reasons for filing these complaints.

My pipes had not failed and weren't even loose. I replaced them as a precautionary measure. Technically that is not a valid reason to file a complaint. The complaints are meant to be filed about actual experienced defects not just the possibility of one.

I filed as well. This thing happened to my 997TT in 2010 under the previous owner. Car had to be towed to the dealership and it was fixed under CPO.

That is a tricky question.

Do you track your car?

Are you planning to have the pipes replaced, pinned and/or wielded?

If the answers are "yes", then you should file a report saying you fear for your safety and you are spending money to correct the problem youreslf.

If the answers are "no", you should pobably not not file a complaint at this time. Unless you want to file a complaint saying you are afraid to drive the car because of the danger the defect poses.

If these complaints do gain some traction then you have to consider whether you think Porsche is going to pay out for owner's expenses to correct the fault. Then you might want to get your pipes fixed, file a complaint about it and hope for reimbursement.

Going by how the IMS bearing thing is shaking out it is going to be very hit or miss whether Porsche will reimburse anyone on this. Since my Turbo is 2001 I am not overly hopefully I will get any kind of a settlement pay out on a car that old.

No specific mileage Bob, totally random. Looking at the service history on my car, it happened at 10K miles.
