As someone who has seen a coolant line go south and the carnage and complete writeoff it can cause....get it fixed correctly. Ugly.

I would. If every failure is logged Stephen from NHTSA will still see it - I think he looks even though official investigation is concluded. He was top shelf for Government employee. Genuine

I'm in the process of researching exactly what parts need to be re-epoxied to prevent coolant loss, anyone has a link handy? I'm still unsure if the lines/tubes need to be replaced or epoxy to be re-applied? This is what Suncoast quoted me:

997-106-313-72 TUBE NECK 2
Special order 2-3 days

996-106-139-71 WATER SOCKET 1
Special order 3-4 days

996-106-140-71 WATER SOCKET 1
Special order 3-4 days

Thanks in advance folks

P.S. I just realized my comment might belong in a different post?
Epoxy is just resetting the ticking time bomb.

My 2002 996 Turbo has blown 3 coolant fittings now, all in the last 3 years and between 50,000 miles and 70,000 miles. The first just cruising on the highway, the second two on tracks (DE and race, about three 5 lap sessions in). Certainly loosened up the handling on track both times, even for following cars. The NHTSA conclusion was a joke IMHO as they seem to have allowed Porsche to have them limit the investigation to just 18 months or so of 997 builds and the NHTSA went as far as to ignore coolant leak driven loss of control accidents that fell outside that date window. Can't report mine though as I'm not in the States. All 8 fittings are getting tested, then re-epoxied, pinned, plus the collars scuffed and liquid metaled right now.

Default Coolant fix Porsche 996-997 Turbo & GT3

Hi
I am a Porsche 997.1 GT3 owner from Sweden and I have recently read
a lot about thoose issues about the coolant hoses problem (bad epoxi).
All suggestions is about pinning or welding.

Have any of You guys tried soldering/brazing technique ?

Harras71, Please read through this thread and you will see that the only way to ensure that your car won't have a coolant fitting failure is to have a competent shop remove the engine and weld the tubes into the coolant manifold. You will be doing yourself and everyone else who you happen to be sharing the road or track with a big favor....

Do the 996 Cup engines have the same fitting issues ? I mention this issue to Cup owners I know or met and they are not aware of what this is all about....

I've seen threads where the cup engines do have the issue. I've also seen pictures of screw in fittings for the RSR cars. Kind of a mixed bag.
