Mine in the turn. Filed a long time ago(2.5 years) but have not been contacted like you other folks.

ODI has received 10 reports alleging incidents of sudden coolant loss which occurred while driving on public roadways in model year (MY) 2001 through 2007 Porsche 911 vehicles equipped with GT1 engines
Do all Turbo cars have the GT1 engine or is this just a problem with the GT2 cars?

Sorry for the silly question. I'm new to Porsche, I've only had my 02 996tt for about a month.

Thanks.

Your Turbo is a GT1 block and is at risk of this issue.

Well ****. That sucks considering next week it's getting a new clutch accumulator and slave cylinder (about $1600). I knew with a high performance car it’d be expensive…but these just seem like oversights by Porsche which is aggravating.

Try a Ferrari that uses "engine out" service. Rudest wake up call you'll ever get.

No worries.

I don't track the car, but I do like driving it through the mountains here in a very fun way.

And after reading this thread and the one on 6speed it's kinda hard to not worry. I'm just hoping that when the dealer had the engine out before I bought it they checked the hoses and they were fine.

I'll be filing a complaint tomorrow after getting the car back after a coolant line failure on the track while hard straight line braking. Repair done the right way with all fittings (7 I think) welded.

Glad to see my old car is being well exercised

The good is this is a rare event. So, it is unlikely to happen to your respective car. Only 20 compliants have been filed with NHTSA and some were preventive which does not count. Of course, this recently happened to me and I am looking at at $3,000+ repair bill.

The investigation with NHTSA is in the Preliminary Evaluation (PE) stage. The next step if they proceed would be Engineering Analysis (EA). So, don't expect this to be resolved anytime soon.
