For double duty, I thought the Bridgestone RE-11 did pretty good. I would still take the RA1 or NT01 for the track. R888's go away too quick, IMO.

RE 11's are good, they just don't come in big enough 18" sizes for the 996GT3

Ahhhh....I forgot about that. Their wider stuff is only made for 19" rims; where they will make them up to 305's.

Faster than Nspec MPSC in dry and wet.
Faster than Corsa system in dry almost as good in wet.

John

Since I'm the one who started the thread, I figured that I'd update it with the result. So after reading all the recommendation, I decided to stay w/ the street tire for this time, and possibly moving to NT-01 for my next set. So I stopped by the local tire shop (they did a price match of Tire Rack price) and ordered a set of Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD-08.

Thanks for all the good advices here. I can only imagine when you get faster and faster, the tire cost would add up so quickly..

Yes he did.

cfjan, you'll like the durability of the Yoko AD08. When you hear those tires chirping under braking and during cornering and most importantly, feel comfortable doing so, then go buy some Nittos and drive the crap out of those. You'll have a great time.

Tough crowd...

You know for these 5 pages.. 1/2 of them were posts about 911SLOW complaining about not being able to get NT-01 in UK, right?!

Thanks for all the good advices.. the newbie tracking chronicle continues... (and the wallet continues to lighten.. )

Also dialed in some more negative camber up front as the front tires were wearing a bit on the outside.. (was running street setup prior.. -1.2 degree or so..)

Come on I had forgotten about the Nittos you had to remind me? ..
Although I read that they are bad in wet so I wouldnt wanna use them after all so I am over them.

Oh yes....bad in wet....by all means then you don't want them. Did I mention I have data from my Nittos with about 40 heat cycles on them and I pulled 1.25g in a corner? Not a single-frame peak value either. Not bad for a cheap "introductory" R-comp. Yeah, you don't want them.

I stopped worrying about G-points since newer studies proved they don't actually exist
