They were outstanding for the first 20 HC's, good from 20-30 HC's

So you need MORE than this ^?

Search the 996 GT3 archives and you'll see several folks who have tried both R888 and NT-01 and preferred the Nitto. More complaints about tread squirm on R888 compared to NT-01. Once the R888 wore down (or if the person bought them shaved) then they were fine for people....but the "fun" lifespan of the R888 was shorter than the NT-01.

The other thing you will find is that most prefer the RA1 over the R888 as well.

...I read enough of those comments to think R888 = crap. Probably unfair, but I'm happy with my Nittos and I'll pick up the Hoosier crack pipe again after this season working with a pro driving coach. Right now I'm learning a ton and the Nittos are fantastic for learning to drive at the car's limit.

Cheers,

Look in the good areas of town. WalMart doesn't sell them.

The R888 isn't exactly crap

But, when faced with the choice, the Nitto is the better choice unless you want to smoke the HooHoo crack pipe

I got 48 heat cycles out of RA-1's shaved to 6/32 new on my 3550lb M3. RA-1's at full tread (8/32) suck so there's your negative comment about them.

With Nitto's on backorder still in the size I need I'm looking at putting used RA-1 scrubs on my car over a new set of R888's

In all fairness, I laid down a pretty impressive lap in my 996 on the R888's when they were fresh. I swore they wouldn't fall off in performance but sure enough they did.

Dude I need to hit that ASAP... Being on the track with Toyo's, Nitto's, etc are so uninspiring, i'm overdriving them as im use to running slicks LMAO... I was mingling with a radical sr3 at Monticello, a rwd 993TT cup, GT3 cup, and on hoosiers I can keep pace real well/press them on most bigger tracks but I just couldn't move that car around like i'm use to and really saw my cars weight in the corners especially with the bigger/blockier sidewall these tires having making it a bit squishier feeling, unlike the Hoosiers ... So frustrating, but they are good for what it is and i'm sure not many people will complain.

Maybe but still they are the best for people that don't trailer and cant use slicks or the dangerous in wet real MS cups.
Faster than Nspec MPSC in dry and wet.
Faster than Corsa system in dry as good in wet.
