Why do people fake badge a GT3 a GT3RS?
So I was at the Lowe's Motor Speedway post-Parade DE this past weekend and there was another beautiful speed yellow GT3 there and when I got closer I noticed there was something wrong. At first glance it looked just like mine (SY, CF wing) but then there were 3 things that just made me shake my head.
1. GT3RS side foils
2. GT3RS decklid badge
3. Personalized plate that reads "GT3RS"
So my question is why? The only person (sure there might be a small number of exceptions to this rule) that really knows the difference between at GT3 and GT3RS is the Porsche enthusiast so why do this to your car when those of us in the know just shake our heads?
I didn't take a picture of it but here is a screen capture from some video when we were on track together.
Just trying to understand the rationale for this.

Putting the RS wing is one thing as it is actually a part created for the car. Just like the 996C2 guys could order the "GT3" Aerokit for their car. There is actually a very nice SY one over on the 996 forum (Mike's).
What got me thinking about this is that on our way back from Charlotte I saw an older S class mercedes (probably a S430) yet the car was overbadged on the rear decklid with "V12" "AMG", etc, and the plate said MBAMG. That one was funny since the all the fake badgin was done in the WRONG places.
I guess I just don't get it. Maybe it's time to go buy one of those "Type R" stickers from Auto Zone and have the first GT3 Type R
I thought the 996GT3RS only came in white and you had the option of red or blue as the "color" compliment (wheels, foils, stitching, etc).

Probably the same rationale as the people who put Mercedes or BMW logos on their clapped out Hyundai Excel......

I have bee thinking about fake badging my M5 with a "hybrid" emblem
in hybrid crazy Seattle, I thought a 5 litre V8 (E39 M5) with a hybrid emblem would be funny...
fake badging your GT3 into a GT3rs is so lame...

The only way ne girl will like the ride in a gt3 is sitting on top of u and driving on a bumpy road for an hour. U don't even have to work on it the gt3 does it for u.

Each additional sticker = 8 HP, .5 MPH Top Speed
Only OEM designations work. Others will severely hamper performance and may cause driveability/safety issues.

One of the salesmen at a dealer in Salt Lake many years ago had a SY 996 C2 with the GT3 aero kit and he put a"GT3" badge on the rear...I saw it and said sarcastically "wow, nice GT3, you don't see them very often"..he says "I wish, it's just a C2 with the aero kit"....what a tool...
