Default I`m at Porsche AG in Zuffenhausen - Now

Hello Gang;

I just finished my tour at the factory.

The first 997 GT3 I saw was leaving the plant for a test drive. White, sounding great, and no sunroof (not a North America Spec car).

The GT3 and Turbo engines are assembled in a separate section next to the normal engine assembly area.

I saw two more, just built 997 GT3 driving about, black, again no sunroof (RoW Spec). Inside, I got to see underneath a silver 997 GT3 on the assembly line. Still has a lot of exhaust components in the side and rear areas surrounding the engine. Guess what this RoW one does not have sunroof either.

Yet another white 997 GT3 on the factory "just completed" area, no sunroof (RoW Spec)... get the point!

The only 997 GT3 RS street cars built so far are for training and then for show at the dealerships. They would not tell me when then will commence production.

Dealership on site has a 996 GT3 RS (red graphics) in the showroom so I shall check it out next. I will find out exactly what color white that is as several on Rennlist have asked previously.

Lots of 997 Turbo being built today.

I will try and check this web site again before I leave the factory.

Very cool!

If you could get the paint code from the front trunk of the GT3 RS that would be great!

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Europe

Hi Moogle;

The 2004 996 GT3 RS in the showroom is unlocked but the electricity in the car is off so the front lid switch is dead. I wrote down the car´s VIN and the service man looked it up. Came out as Carrara Weiss and I have the code he gave me but left it in my car. I forgot is there a front hood emergency release in the fender fuel cap area? I think there is only one for the rear engine lid. Are you good on that carbon hood "Porsche crest" decal?

I have not seen a North America Spec 997 GT3 here. Saw two more silver, two red, and one yellow 997 GT3 all without sunroof.

So, RoW cars have the option for a sunroof, and they're not being ordered that way? weird RoW buyers...

How are they coming along on the new museum?

If you're still in Zuffenhausen, go to the opposite side of the factory from the dealership (down the hill from the parking lot & across the street from where they load the cars onto the trucks) and check out the factory's used car lot. Used employee cars they wholesale out with the craziest colors & options that you almost never see. I love walking thru that lot to see firsthand what works & what doesn't re color combos & options.

I will be visiting Germany in about 1 week. How is the museum? Should I stop by? What about the Mercedes museum? Anything else in Stuttgart worth seeing?

Enthusiast, I did manage to find everything I needed.

All the hard to find stuff from Gert @ Carnewal.

I suppose it IS simply Carrara White on the GT3 RS Thanks again.

Hockenheim also has a small museum, but it's mostly bikes. Also fun to sit in the grandstands and watch whoever is there that day running laps.
