Hello All;

I think the UK and US have same tour arrangements for Zuffenhausen. Contact any UK Porsche Dealership and tell them the dates you want and see what happens. September is full but you can push for bing on the stand by list. One english speaking tour a day Mon - Fri, at 10:00 am.

No arrangements needed to visit the museum. The new one has a big advertising billboard, concrete, steel, and dirt now. Old tiny museum had fewer cars on display this time. One guy there was bent out of shape because he wanted to see a 917 K, none to be had this week. Last time they had two out and an engine.

Mercedes Benz Museum is a grand facility and vehicles are of course worth seeing.

Moogle;

The exterior color code found by using the 996 GT3 RS's VIN was: L89A. The parts man then looked that up and translated it to the carrara white color. I just sent a note to a person I know of who has one of these cars and I will see what he says.

I did walk about and check on the Porsche AG car loading area and sales area across the street.

With regards to the 997 GT3 North America Spec, I did not see any. I found more 997 GT3 "clear side marker light" cars hither and tither all without sun roofs! In addition to the ones I mentioned earlier I saw the following.

2 - silver
2 - red
1 - yellow
1 - blue with license plates being driven out of a Porsche facility
1 - white

Someone asked about the new 997 GT3 RS. I did not see any of those. The tour guide said only a few exist for training and then they will go out for show at dealerships. Actual production month, they would not say. Have any of our European Rennlisters seen one, besides the green Rohl car and orange baby at Weissach?

Thanks Enthusiast for the great info on the status on GT3 production.
This certainly clears any doubts that the 997 GT3 is already being produced
and that US bound cars will be produced hopefully in October and so on.
Patience pays off !!!

as soon as they get enough parts to make the sunroofs they'll start building US cars, they've got to finish all the non-sunoof cars for ROW first

They did not give me any information on the production of the North America Spec 997 GT3. They have always been hard to deal with.

One thing to watch for (can be confusing) are the 997 Aero Kit (GT3 look) models. Key item to look for on the front exterior is the absence of radiator vent area in the bumper cover.

Reminiscent of the glorious CLK DTM and the embarrassing sibling, the convertible version.

I hope they aren't pushing production back on my Tiptronic GT3 Cabriolet with all wheel drive, optional 22" spinners and U.S.-spec la-z-boy reclining sport seats... I'm first on the list at my dealer.

pcar - you don't know how to spec a car. You left out the heated and cooled cup holders (4), the rear seat projection TV. The folding tray tables in carbon fiber and most importantly the neon lights (full neon NE 51) under the front splitter, rear diffuser and from the front to rear wheel wells.
You are a poseur for omitting these critical items.

I'd like really top notch all-season tires, please. They last longer.

I thought you were joking, and then I found this!

Porsche always wanted to be more like M-B...

Here's another glimpse into the GT3 future...
