2004 TSB # 3/04, 4407, authorizes the use of weight reduced lug nuts 14.5mm(head lenght, not socket size) vise the standard 16.5mm. The part nos is 996-361-203-02. TSB affected cars: 996/996C4/ and 996 GT3.

What and where is this part from, that is a pretty big saving right there.

Also I see the only exhaust mentioned is Fabspeed, what does Matheney use, and what other light weight exhaust parts are there out there?

Re: sticky - as loong as you keep the thread going it will stay in play. If interest lags then it wasn't worth making it a sticky was it?

Rgds,
Mmm, with respect, by that logic, wouldn't there be no point of ever making stickys? I'm sure eventually the post will get buried and then someone will start a new thread repeating it. I just think it's better to keep it around so people can easily read what's been put so far so we don't have redundancy and then they can add new content to the centralized thread. Especially with this topic, it seems we don't want many posts scattered over years about different parts of the same idea. The only other option that would solve the problem of this topic spread over many threads would be to combine all threads about lightweight GT3s and then heap in any new threads. Many forums do this, but it seems like a lot more work than a single sticky because you'd have to keep combining threads.

Just my 2 cents. I guess it's a matter of forum philosophy. Some maybe don't want anything cluttering the top of the board. I've found that a few stickys about issues central to the car in question have been very useful and informative on other boards. And it probably doesn't make sense to have a lightweight sticky without a sticky on say, tire pressures and alignment. Although I think both would be nice.

While I agree with you that this is a very useful thread indeed, and could well deserve a 'sticky' if it doesn't try this; I've been creating a list of bookmarks to the tech threads I know I'll want to revisit over time, and I've created a GT3 folder for those bookmarks. Simple, easy, and a real fast way to find stuff you want. Sorry I can't stick it for you, but that may help.

Supersprint Quotes 16lbs each, which would be significant. They are TUV rated, probably quiet.

16 lbs. for a cannister-style muffler? Even though it's a compact design, that seems awfully light... Anybody actually weighed one of these things?

Nope, haven't weighed it. Got the number from Supersprint NA. I beieve that Fabspeed claims 13 lbs...someone with a Fabspeed correct me if I'm wrong.
