Question Brake Pad review

I just wanted to get a review of the brake pads everyone has been using on the track in one thread. Seems as though most are using Pagids, and of those the three combinations are Yellow RS19s, Orange RS4-4s, or Black RS14s on the front & Orange RS4-4s on the back.

I just broke in a set of Oranges on the 951 and ran them at Pocono. I was very pleased at how smooth they were. The grip could have been a little better, but then again it made for higher entry speeds I see no noticeable rotor wear.

Also, is anyone running other brands of pads (Performance Frictions, Hawks, Cool Kevlars, etc)?

I like the Pagid orange on my 951 track car. They do not stop to well when cold, but they work great once they get to temp. Not a pad I would want for the street.

Yellow RS19

Very happy with them, great on the track, and fast back roads.
They are just a little dull when cold, and squeal a lot around town in traffic, but I like that!

I was running Oranges, but the last two sets I've used either put pad material on the rotor, or some other issue with the pad causing a shudder under braking. I've switched to Blacks and have no shuddering, pedal feel is much improved and overall I like them much better.

I tried Porterfield RS-4s, but went through them in 400 track miles. Not impressed with either the stopping, wear, or price...

Performance Friction 93's

93's have been replaced by 01 compound.

Have not tried 01's yet.

Running RS19 Yellow in front and RS44 Orange in rear. I really like the 19's alot more than the 14 Blacks or Oranges in front!

Thumbs up I love PFC

I run the 098 pads from Performance Friction and LOVE them. I have not yet run the 01, but I hear that they have an 04 coming out soon and may give that a try.

RS-19 are a little dusty, about the same as OEM pads were.

Hawk Blues are great and cheap but not for dual use IMO.

On my mk1 I've tried Pagid Orange and Blue - the former clearly offering much better initial bite.

On the mk2, I've tried Porsche Motorsport Green (pagid cup car pads) and RS-19 Yellow. The Green's IMHO offer the best threshold braking performance (as evidenced by Pagid's friction chart) - but they chew through rotors.

Of all the race pads I've tried, my vote goes to the RS-19's - initial bite, pedal feel, longevity and relatively rotor friendly.

While I dont think I'm carrying enough speed to need ultimate, what do people think of the blues as an all rounder? I'm not against changing pads between the track and street but I want something that will stop me on the street if I happen to be lazy once in a while or between track days.

Note: I drive to and from the track so I need something with at least some bite on the street.

I am very pleased with the Pagid RS-19 Yellow pad for both street and track. It's an endurance racing pad. Works even when cold. Not too noisy on my car when used on the street. Supposed to be more rotor friendly than the Orange.

I've used the carbotech panther plus (1109 compound) and while they had great initial bite, they lacked some modulation. I"ve also used Ferrodo ds3000's, and loved them, but they're harder on the rotors and very expensive. Lately, I've been using the CobaltFriction SpecVR pad. It's an endurance racing pad, with a co. ef. of friction of ~ 0.63 and operational ceiling temp. is ~ 1500F, they don't have the initial bite of the ds3000 pad, but every set has lasted me ~ 5 weekends, and I have yet to fade them. They have great modulation, with very linear pedal feel.
I'd give them a try.
I've never used the Pagid brand of pads; is the ps19 yellow a race pad, or an intermediate pad? For someone used to racing pads, would you guys reccomend the yellow, or the orange?

How much do they run per axle, and where do you get them?
