WTB: Enthusiast looking for a nice 996 GT3
I joined Rennlist in 2005, a couple of years out of college and shortly after spending some time with a friend's 996 GT3. I lurked for a while but decided to get my life sorted before buying an expensive occasional-use car. It's now time to find a nice 996 GT3. I'm not a flipper, dealer, speculator, or collector - I'm just an enthusiast looking to get the car I wanted but couldn't afford in 2005.
The ideal car is unmodified with 35k-60k miles. Well maintained, original paint, reasonable DME report and no real stories. I won't deny any color but Speed Yellow and Carrara White are my favorites. I have classifieds alerts set up and I monitor Rennlist but I'm hoping to find a car that has not been listed. Please know, I pay close attention to market pricing so I won't offer 2015 prices.
Please think of me if you are thinking of selling your 996 GT3. Thanks in advance!
My favorite at the 2021 Boardwalk Reunion in Ocean City NJ. Speed Yellow is amazing!

Ditto...its always a great day when you find your car, but also a little sad (but just a little...the chase is indeed half the fun). You can't go wrong with one of these, good luck and keep us posted!

Good luck with your search. I've had my Guards Red Clubsport for 18 months or so now and it just gets better and better. There's nothing like it!

I’d sell you mine to get into some investment opportunities. It has 79k miles and is black. I have a few thousand in receipts of all OEM parts since I got it. Was going to have the front end painted but if you are hell bent on scratches and paint chips, I could avoid painting the front end😜.

Did you see this car? Slightly higher mileage than you wanted but looks like a very nice car.

These cars are very robust and will run a very long time. Case in point, I'm the second owner of my car I bought with 5,500 miles on it in 2006. It now has over 150,000 miles and is in excellent shape with the original engine and transmission. It had its first clutch replaced at 143,000 miles. The car will probably outlast me. Maintenance is the most important factor here.

Don't get too absorbed looking for odometers with lower miles. It sounds good on paper, but older cars that are stored have their own set of problems. The best solution is a car that has a solid track record of proper maintenance. By proper I mean a car that has been serviced regularly and correctly without short cuts or non-OEM parts.

ps. It's awesome to see you rack the miles up! I'll probably drive this car 1-2k miles a year.

The spread in asking prices has a lot to do with low production numbers and even lower numbers of cars offered for sale. Not a very efficient market when there are never more than 3-4 for sale NATIONWIDE at a time. You want to see a really crazy market? Take a look at the 997.1 gt2 market. The price swings for those suckers can exceed 200k depending on spec, color, and miles. They also tend to sit around for long periods of time!
