Hoovie killed his 996

he has a video somewhere of a v8 boxster that is outright fast. I would love to take on that project one day just to do it. Someone on planet 9 did a LS3 Cayman with their kit and it's an awesome looking car

Although Hoovie is providing good entertainment, he must be the only 996 owner ever who knows about the motor's potential to fail and actually drove multiple times a car that makes abnormal noises.
Watching the video, when he first heard the buzzing sound on the track, I was amazed he kept driving it to the pits, I would have parked the car on the grass and paid to get it towed to someone who knows these cars. No, he kept driving it for days until it failed.
I understand there are multiple ways these engines can fail, most happen without advance warning. His car showed signs of imminent failure way before it got worse, he knew all about the risks. As others said, he wanted this engine to end its remarkably long life.
At least he's not complaining.
Anyone cares to speculate about what happened? This could be a rare example of an extensively documented M96 failure.

I called it the moment I saw how he treated the car afterwards in the original footage. I guess when you have a 911 with THAT many miles, putting a standard p-car engine isn't going to help the value terribly much vs. what he's going to do... Might as well swap it for the added juice!

$1500.00 in labor? Someone wake this guy up - he's dreaming (I also don't believe he got that motor for $1500) !!! I have a feeling his "dream" is going to be a financial nightmare... Hopefully he's honest about it

And that's probably the point to generate more views down the road... Oh I am so stupid because the 1500 labor budget is now costing me more money... Oh the parts need more work than I thought... the 1500 motor is causing problems... It is highly entertaining but you can sense the plot if you have watched his other videos. I do wish him success on the swap...
Like his sub 5k MB that he tuned to 600hp and he killed it.
