Hoovie killed his 996

One of the best scenes ever! Classic...
"And that's probably the point to generate more views down the road... Oh I am so stupid because the 1500 labor budget is now costing me more money... Oh the parts need more work than I thought... the 1500 motor is causing problems... It is highly entertaining but you can sense the plot if you have watched his other videos. I do wish him success on the swap... "
^^ Point well taken ^^ he's getting paid to make a fool of himself (as are we all in one form or another) and having a really good time!!

I love his videos too, and was sad that apollo 911 died, but then I realized he killed it. When I start analyzing his videos, I realize that he buys these crazy cheap/near death cars, and dramatic stories to get views. He does have entertaining videos, but I am pretty sure he bought this hoping it would die so he can get an entertaining video.

Go look at the 40th Anniversary registry thread; there's a guy on there who was at 335k miles last time he posted. Car is a beast; has a CEL for cat inefficiency and he just never bothered to do anything about it. Other than that it still runs great apparently.

Well summed up. He does come across not as a car guy but rather an attention seeking troll using click bait methods to gain operational revenue.

Grrr... the fast forward feature isn't working. He shows the results at about 3:18

Yes he found metal shavings inside his oil but still not a conclusive IMSB failure until he opens the motor to inspect. He actually drove his car for a few days after the incident at the track and was still working. Would an IMSB failure seized the motor right after it fails?

Depending on how this turns out I'll take it into consideration when my engine kicks the bucket.
I'm at about 170k miles now so still a way to go until I hit the mid 200's but this should be interesting.
I enjoy his channel. I know it's just pure entertainment - any real car enthusiast would have shut it down after hearing any sound. But he needs to build up the drama. Who would watch a video about a vehicle making it to 300k while picking up groceries and making diaper runs?

I don't think a failed IMSB causes engine seizure in many cases. Broken rods or pistons might.

If you watch the video to 4:30 or so, it states the the metals are copper and lead...these are indicative of failing main journal/crank bearings (not IMS - that would be steel). It's still possible that the IMS bearing has "failed" but not exploded yet. These steel filings in the oil, is one of the things that can/will take out the main bearings...

Usually that type failure have already been addressed by the mileage on the dashboard being so high. The ims failure is nothing these days, those problems occurred around 20 years ago hittind early stick shift cars harder. Most any 996 you find today, if not all Has already had a responsible owner that took care of there car at one point. These 996 cars are starting to fall back into the hands of enthusiasts and not knuckles chuckle heads that don't change plugs, filters, oil regularly use the right gas, run car properly.
