Default ? Expansion tank cap...

expansion tank cap?

Just got a new expansion cap from Autohausaz.com. It can in a plastic bag with a sticker indicating part number 99610644704. However there is no writing or part number on the cap except for the word "Germany".

No issues with the one I have now but it was the ending 01 version, and it seems most recommend updating to the one ending in 04.

Here are photos of new cap. Should I be concerned about quality? Looks generic or am I safe. Autohausaz.com lists it as Blau OEM with part number 99610644704.

Here is a photo of the bag with a sticker on it,

then the sticker with the 118 43013 246 was on top of the one that I show still on the bag,

then the sticker with AutohausAZ was on top of that one.

I very carefully peeled them off of each other and laid them out to take the photo.

Gonna call Autohausaz.com, I don't like that mine has no part number molded on it.

I know. The 4 is the current cap. I would call the vender but I'm fairly sure you are ok.

Spoke with Autohausaz.com and he said Blau is the manufacturer. I thought blau was "blue" is German.

He said it is the correct part and I should be OK. For what that's worth. I've never had an issue ordering from here for my Mercedes and Audi.

Well it was only $15, but I was expecting the OEM part with the part number on it. Now when/if I sell the car people will question the cap if they are P-car nuts. I know if the car would have come with this part when I bought it 5 months ago I would be replacing it because there is no way of knowing which part it is and if it is the upgraded one.

Big ask here....my old cap on the under side has a metal screen and the new one does not have this screen, it's just plastic. Can any one of you guys when you get a chance take a picture of the under side of the cap for me. If you guys cap has the screen for the most recent updated part, I'm not using this one. I'll order one elsewhere. Not gonna take chances with a possible generic part. THANKS.

I am almost certain my has a metal screen on it.

I went through a whole snafu with my coolant expansion tank when I replaced my cap a year ago, within weeks the coolant expansion tank cracked, but it was original. It cracked again while I was in FL this year after changing the coolant/water pump. I bought not only a new cap, but a new OEM tank. I think the one I got did not relieve pressure at the proper set point and was causing the system to over pressurize.

I would just get a new OEM cap.

OK here's the deal.

The one they sent me is made by Febi/Bilstein not Blau. That's why they are different.

Autohausaz.com is sending me a return shipping label with shipping paid to return it. Great customer service. Their website states Blau but are shipping Febi/Bilstein instead. They do not have the Blau's in stock.

Not to say the Febi's are not good but I want OEM with part number on it. I'll pick one up elsewhere and replace.

Thanks guys.

We carry both the Blau and Original Porsche but only the Porsche cap will have the part number on it.

You know I would kind of wonder a little bit too. My cap also has a screen on it and the picture of the one that is sold by AutohausAZ also features a screen on it.

AutohausAZ shows a black version with a screen, but are sending the one I show in post #1 which does not have the screen. I gave them sh*t about it and they are paying shipping for me to return it.
