Hey guys! I figured y’all would be interested to hear about what’s going on with the car. The buyer sent me these pictures last night. He tore down the transmission and said the oil pump inside the transmission had gone bad. Car is currently running. That doesn’t do much to explain the two transmission failures but I’m glad he’s got it running!

Not trying to reopen ol' wombs, but any chance you could give us a breakdown (no pun intended) to the amount of money you dumped into this car from the start? Seems like I remember you saying you paid almost $30,000 from a Porsche dealership and then the nightmare began.
IMHO, "Dennis the Menace" is to point why this current transmission has problems cause he installed it. Seems like the second guy just repaired the shifter issue and so I wouldn't make him a part of the equation... but it seems the oil pump problem could have been from Dennis' botched install? Thoughts? Wonder if the current mechanic is willing to give his opinion on what caused this problem?

What’s up guys! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve checked in here. Been super busy (new job, buying house, etc). Thought I’d stop in for a minute. As far as the 996 goes, to my knowledge is still up and running in NY/NJ. Unfortunately I’m still Porscheless, but ended up selling my Mustang GT for something a little more practical. Hope everybody is doing well!

I’m back! Told you that 996 wouldn’t be my last Porsche. I’ve had a ZL1 and a Z06 since selling my 996 and Mustang and the one car I couldn’t get out of my head was the Porsche. I was looking at some 997s since they are now priced pretty close to what my 996 was, but ultimately I didn’t want to ever deal with the possibility of any IMSB failures again so I knew I needed an 09 at least. 911s start getting pricey after 09 so I started looking at Caymans and Boxsters too. The plan was to get a 6 speed this time, but then I found this beautiful Boxster S PDK with Sport Chrono. The best part, Porsche CPO! 2 year warranty? Score! So excited to be back!
